How is this stupid movie getting such good reviews? Its awful, save your money.
Every article gushing about how wonderful the TLJ is are flooded with negative forum comments about this rubbish of a movie. I will never trust movie reviews again. Lies.
    Fake reviews?

The movie is getting mixed reviews everywhere.

I don't know why you think every movie critic is giving it a 10/10

Remember though, this is the second out of a new trilogy. This is what The Empire Strikes back was for the original trilogy. It's more for information than action.

My gripe about it is though, Snoke was snubbed. He was built up to be an ultimate bad ass Sith lord, oh so powerful and was going to train Kylo Ren. And he turns out to be a pointless character, just to excite the story with Kylo and Rey. What's more, he dressed like Gold Member from Austin Powers.

I also get that Leia is connected to the force because of her family, but that was a cop out. She should have died...Which considering Carrie Fischer did actually die, I feel kind of bad saying that?

I also hate how people are comparing Rose to Jar Jar Binks as how important of annoying of a character she is. She did a lot for the movie, and really in my opinion was the saving grace for the movie.

Bought reviews...meanwhile, Luc Besson's little Valerian gem got a 5/10 treatment, even though you could probably watch it ten times in a row without becoming annoyed by anything in it.

While I am not agreeing or disagreeing with you simply saying it is awful without actually saying why you thought it was awful doesn't really add anything to the discussion. All I know is that it is getting mixed reviews and my opinion of the movie was meh, not good not bad. I suspect that once the trilogy is rounded out it will get better with time. A lot of the hate is coming from expectation that was built up in the TFA and then either gets immediately subverted or dismissed out of hand or doesn't get mentioned at all.

What I did take away from the movie is that at it's core it is about letting go of the old ways, the old stories, the old characters, the old expectations and making way for something new and as yet all we have had is a little hint at what that new is going to be. The final part of the trilogy will hopefully give greater context and meaning to the 2nd movie in time or it may just end up being pure fan service based on the backlash coming from the fans because... o turns out Ray isn't Luke's daughter after all.

Like everybody I had high hopes for this movie and, I was a little disappointed in it. First though I was very entertained, the movie was beautiful and amazing looking. Second I enjoyed seeing Rose and Rey hook up along with Poe being a badass. Third I thought Carrie Fisher was amazing and it sucks she won't be in the next film.

As for the negatives, so many un-answered questions! Who are Rey's parents? Why is she so strong in the force? What is the history of Snoke? Is he really dead since he was so badass!? Are Rey and Kylo enemies or friends now? Now we gotta wait two freakin years to hopefully get answers to these questions.

I'm still debating on whether to see it. I was disappointed by New New Hope and don't see an overwhelming need to see this one (I'll might just wait for it to come to Netflix or Play Movies).

    Horrendous movie.

The critic reviews are 100% brought, no way any respectable star wars fan or even a movie fan in general can say this movie is anything but below average.

Sure it looks fantastic, has huge production and looks visually stunning... that is kind of a given with the budget the movie had.

    its problems consist of...

    1) undeveloped characters
    2) dropped story lines from previous movies
    3) needless sub plots that just take up too much time and are only there for padding
    4) insane amounts of product placements - BUY ME!!! BUY ME!!! BUY ME!!!
    5) The movie takes risks, then immediately reveres them
    6) Needless twists that make zero sense
    7) horrendous use of original star wars characters, treated like crap and only their for nostalgia
    8) boring fight scenes that fail to deliver
    9) THE STUPID CASINO SCENE!!! frack OFF!!! Felt like the prequels all over again
    10) Characters fall in love within 12hrs!?
    11) Lame jokes that fall flat
    12) Terrible pacing, and tone, one minute its serious then the next its cute and "funny"...

Now I will talk SPOILERS DONT READ IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING!!!

Leia is killed off, to then turn into super girl and fly back into the ship after floating in space and freezing.... WTF! Sure we know she has force powers but has never used them but this is how they do it!??

Luke turns up at the end for the final fight, he dodges a few light saber swings and then he turns out to be a hologram and hes projecting him self onto the planet from his island using all his power to help his friends escape.

He then dies by simply fading away into nothing.... REALLY!!!??? This is how you treat the main hero of the original series!???? He fades away without a massive send off?? BULLSHIT!!!

He could of just showed up on the planet in person, instead of projecting himself and using all his power, the fight could then have been bigger and better, and it would of still had the same outcome if he was going to die he should of died a true hero instead he died a coward.

Then we have Yoda showing up, sure he looked great and they did a great job of making him look like the original puppet.... But he just destroys the tree with the original jedi text inside... completely pissing all over the entire jedi religion!!!! slapping ALL die hard star wars fan in the face!

Sure they show up at the end of the movie inside the falcon but that is once again the movie taking chances then back tracking on them.... oh look Rey is going to the dark side.... no shes not. Oh look Kylo is light side... oh no hes not.... oh look leia is dead.... oh no shes not.... oh look luke is back to save the day this will be bad ass.... oh wait no hes not hes a coward and is now dead.... BOLLOCKS!!!

The only thing the movie went through with seems to be killing Snoke...... WHO THE HELL CARES!!!! We had ZERO back story for Snoke, no build, no development, no reasons, nothing. We should just accept him as the new emperor figure... NO please go to hell.

Then we learn that Rey is nobody, no links to any characters, no back story, no meaning, no motives, just that her parents were raiders and sold her away for money!!

This movie can simply go to hell.

The viewer scores are the true reflection of the movie, dont listen to the critics. Its simply awful and should be struck off the star wars cannon. Disney in two movies simply killed star wars. Lucas killed it in the 90-00's and Disney took the body set it on fire and pissed all over it.

I thought the originals were just as stupid. But my wife likes them and forces me into taking her. I'm trying to stay stubborn this year, I just can't take another 3 hours of dumb good vs evil stories again.

Starwars is dead. They brought the feminist agenda into a scifi fairytale and politics don't belong there.

After feminst Ghostbusters and soonish Ocean's feminst edition it is finally time for Starwars to fall victim as well. Farewell. :(

The only accurate reflection of a movie, is the "per viewer" score. Most of the movies I enjoy, have achieved very low scores on every movie rating site. So, should what movies I enjoy be based solely on what the rest of the world likes? The idea that a movie sucks based on the reviews of a portion of the movie going society, is rather ignorant. People like all sorts of different movies. People also have different opinions as to what makes a good movie.

I think the entertainment media in general is trying to introduce more variety both in race, gender, sexualities...etc which in all honesty has been needed for the last 50+ years because it's a reflection of actual reality. Personally I always thought it was weird to see games and movies with predominantly white people and stereotypical roles because it's not very realistic of today or future unless it's a film that takes place in 1950 or something.

I can joke around about the women in the kitchen thing all day long but in reality, the 1950's are gone and now men of all races are found in the kitchen or raising the kids, so using that as a general ideology, I think it's more fitting and natural to see that type of mix across all the roles in movies and games.

Based on info from the teasers, the plotline originally developed, and only hinted at in the final cut, is that The Chosen One of the Force reincarnates, and that Anakin Skywalker was one of these incarnations, and so is Rey. There was a whole discussion between Luke and Rey about how she is his father reborn that didn't make the final cut.

The scene in the cave where she see's herself going backwards and forwards to inifinity hints at her being reincarnated. I also believe they are taking a page from Clone Wars where there's a champion of both the Light and the Dark, and how these two represent the struggle within the Force. Rey and Kyle would be these two, seeing how strong of a bond they have. Also, in this setting, there's a third Force member who represents Wisdom and Balance, and is a paternal figure to both who keeps them from feuding. Perhaps there's an unknown Force user yet to be represented, or maybe that was meant for Leia to represent. Seeing how Carrie Fisher passed away, maybe they'll use Mark Hamill to do this as a Force Ghost.

Which is sad, as I was looking forward to listening to that whole scene in context, instead of snippets from the teasers.

As a sidenote, Luke's Doppleganger power was borrowed from the Dark Empire comic series. ;)

If she is in the next one it will again like in Rogue One look like crap.

My short review. SPOILERS ARE THERE.

Watched it yesterday and was very disappointed. The humor is not fitting really at all, and could be a lot better if was instead merely there as a coping mechanism to deal with seemingly impossible situations, now it seemed that the movie did not take itself seriously really much at all and was there more for the kids. Oftentimes I rolled my eyes and thought this is a giant joke. Emotionally it is still better than the prequels though, but ultimately it feels that there is no grand vision for the movies other than to empty people's wallet by making the movie just pretty damn dumb. Let's head for very important side-plot, but let's not at all take it seriously at all. Quite mindless drivel and more cute things created to sell more toys. CGI seems more used than in AFA, there's even something that reminds about the pod-race.
The plot twist, turns out not to be really a twist at all.. Meh. [IMG] [IMG]

4/10 It's quite amazing that a movie that alone makes billions in cash yet they still cannot find competent writers and directors. "We're in the money, we're in the money; We're in the money, we're in the money;"

BB8 is ridiculously overpowered in this one, he is the Swiss army pocketknife with everything for every situation. There's nothing that the can cannot do.

Also quite ridiculous how Poe starts a mutiny and later on they comment him "I like this guy". WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR BRAINS?
And stop making everyone understanding the wookie and a droids bleeps.

That is is not so good has zero to with feminism. The prequels are bloody awful and I now expect that Mr Plinkett's review of the movie will be better than the movie. Other than that I agree with this lengthy / review / talk on the movie:

Except hack the door on the big bad ultimate ship that contains the secret do-dad that has to be blown up, weirdly something that R2D2 never seemed to have an issue with in any of the movies.

I never said that it goes for every movie. This movie on its own has divided critics from the general public with vastly different scores like 95% from critics to around 50% from general viewers.

I am not saying that every movie should be based on either reviews from public or critics, peoples opinions are their own but when a movie like this gets such drastically different scores it just screams paid for reviews from critics.

When a movie of this size has such glaring faults yet the critics seem to over look all of them yet the general public picked up on them instantly, what does that tell you?

The movie to me seems disjointed, it is as if it had 10 writers who came wrote a few pages each and left. The movies pacing is terrible, it starts off fast, slows to a crawl half way, and then ramps up for all of ten minutes at the end. Not the forget all the problems I listed in my original post. The movie is just bad, very bad. It is as if Disney wants you to forget about all previous movies and they go out their way to ruin 30 years of heritage, back story, and characters.

If you or anyone likes this movie, then have fun with it, its your opinion and choice. But don't be cynical and deny its glaring problems that massively out weigh its very small amount of positives.
