I need to invest in a monopod for sure. What kind do you use?

LOL ... at the Northern Flicker. We had one get in the attic of a building I work at and guess who had to catch him. That was a trip.

The first picture is of a Peppermint Amaryllis and the second one is a Walking Iris. Your welcome to view my PBase gallery using the 350D/XT

    Keep it up :)

All my pictures are resized from 2560x1920, done with a Nikon Coolpix 5700.

Either me or my dad took this picture when we were in Canada. This is Spirit Lake.

I'm pretty sure i've posted this on a similar thread, but i'm not sure. I was really pleased with the outcome of this one. It's one of my RC cars when i had just finished the new body. I love the reflection of it in the table...

I use a manfrotto monopod. Cost only ~$30.

Here is a garter snake I took a picture of half an hour ago, before it started pouring rain. Image is resized from 3504X2336 to 1024X791, and is slightly cropped.

Many photo editing apps have an option.

In photoshop, you can change the mode to Grayscale, or desaturate the image. You can also use the channels (RGB, or CMYK), and choose one individually, which gives cool Black and white effects.

I"m sure most other programs are essentially the same.

Well hello there, I hardly ever post in these forums, but I saw this thread and I couldnt resist. Had some storms roll through here (just south of Baltimore, MD) on monday, always had wanted to take pictures of lightning... so here i go

I dont remember the particular settings I used for this particular image, but I will estimate

    Camera: Nikon D70
    Lens: 50mm f1.4-16
ISO: 1600 (possibly lower, i switched down to 1000, then 800, then down to 400 during shooting)
Shutter Speed: either 30, or 20 seconds (shutter speeds for the shoot ranged from 30 down to 8 seconds)
    Aperture: 16

There is a whole set more... but I picked that one to post, please CLICK HERE to view the rest of the images.

Also, did a little bit of photoshopping to eliminate some spots in the shot as a result of taking the pictures through my window in my room. Also, did some contrast and levels adjustments and finally applied a photo filter for color. Enjoy.

Mustachio ... those are amazing using the D70, good job indeed.

Here's one I took a few days back at the Grand Canyon. This is along the Yavapai Point observation area.

    Canon 350D/XT
Focal Length 18 mm > Sigma 18-125mm DC Lens
    Exposure Time 1/125 sec
    Aperture f/8
    ISO Equivalent 100

i've received my 350D yesterday... along with a Sigma 18-50 (instead of a Canon kitlens) because its made of metal instead of plastic.

speed is awesome. now i just need a fast card.
i was thinking about a Kingston Elite Pro 1gb. (short on budget for a Sandisk Extreme III)

I am using the Sandisk Ultra II with mine and they work great. Taken over 2000 images so without a problem.
