Assassin's Creed Odyssey - Legacy of the first blade (Ep1)
"Totally not amused."
The evil villainous Persians, complete with mustache twirl...at least for the armor design. (Eh better than Ubisoft's rendition of the Immortals in this game.)
Big Dagger Darius, turns out the blade didn't have a design flaw what so ever and Bayek was just being dumb. (It goes *over* the wrist not *through* the hand, seriously read the manual for these things.)
FMV so meh quality but Xerxes being all "Oh noes I've been the killed!" had a pretty hilarious scene and probably really historically inaccurate for how things really went down during his assassination.
Obligatory flashback sequence for drama and backstory. Darius also had the biggest silliest hat among the Persians. (Aside from Xerxes up above but he's the dead emperor now so it doesn't count.)
Heroic posing for end-of-episode shot..or imminent pissing contest.
Two more eps to go for this little story, wasn't too bad and about four - six hours perhaps depending on fast traveling since each objective is quite spread out. Was fun though it uses existing areas so not quite as impressive as the two added areas in Origins and it's DLC stories.
Just Cause 4 well let's make an attempt to take a few screenshots then and see how that goes.
An early mission and digging up some historical artifacts and relics which will help upgrade the grapple hooks functionality with pulling stuff apart in creative ways.
(There's a different set of mission for improving the air lifting capabilities via the power of helium balloons because the devs probably saw the fulton extraction system or played Metal Gear Solid V during development of this game.)
Street art, always fun to explore and see what creative things they've added to the game until you start noticing repeats and what not, really liked what Dying Light and Watch_Dogs had here for this sort of detail.
(Think some if it was worked on in co-operation with actual graffiti artists from what I remember reading of these games.)
And exploring the city and some signs and buildings and seeing what's here, not too much so far but it's a interesting area.
(And look, motion blur, doing it's thing, blurring stuff!)
More signboards and stuff, probably some sort of propaganda.
(Doubt it will but perhaps it changes after you've taken over the zone which is now done via invisible hella effective but hella limited infantry of very low quantity but exceptional quality since they can not fail but you're always running low.)
Some food store of little note or regard but I liked the readable signs and posters around the place, usually the texture quality is 32x32 or something and the text is a blurry mess barely spelling out ipsum lorei dolum blah blah something.
(The usual example text in MS Office or some such as I remember, the fluffy sheep gets run over by the well I forgot exactly what it was or maybe that was some other example text in some other program ha ha.)
More sign posting, looks like a pirogi or something not too sure could probably Google it, definitively wouldn't be able to cook it though.
(That or it's cow something surrounded by slices of orange, one of the two. It's not the American Oyster thing at least heh. Thanks for teaching me all about that Far Cry 5 though eh I learned something I suppose. ~ )
Found some water that's at least a little bit better than mirror polished flat surface of vaguely aquatic origin, well there's been worse water effects.
(There's been better too, like in the prior two Just Cause games somehow. Hah well it happens, optimize the everything! It kinda worked though but might have killed visual quality, slightly, ever so slightly.)
Average video game NPC doing average thing via your usual canned animations and response quips, yes take photos of the person aiming right at you that's definitively going to do something and then run away and do some other animation.
(Hello motion blur and new guest temporal ghosting sure that's just fantastic for a static image to have this in full effect as if the image quality wasn't already a problem oh well better luck next time I guess.)
EDIT: The game has good points but the mission design and gitches such as the very uneven visuals are dragging things down a lot, I've gotten through worse though so I'll be clearing this one too little by little.
And the UI can be hidden but no luck so far hiding Rico without some glitches or visual remnants without completely destroying the image but eh for a few quick captures this works and maybe patches will fix up some of these other problems, it's nice to dream. ~ Ha ha!
EDIT: Hmm a ridiculous level of downsampling and janking the camera free might work.
My friend, those are empanadas! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empanada
But yes, they look like the polish pierogi.
Anyway, this game looks pretty average, they focused too much on the tornado tech forgetting the rest hehe. Hope it's fun at least... I tried many times to play the previous episodes but I got bored after 10 mins.
Those look good!
Yeah the physics can be pretty good but objects now fade out or just poof out of existence most of the time and there's less destructible objects overall though perhaps it is in favor of performance for when the weather technology really kicks in though it seems less dynamic than I had expected and might be specific to one effect per region as some sort of natural obstacle to overcome.
EDIT: Hmm wonder which region the game is drawing inspiration from this time. I know Just Cause 2 was Venezuela if I remember correctly but then I am not quite sure.
Might be a mix of different areas or cultures though it seems Hispanic is high on the list if they're drawing on cultural food originating from Spain.
Probably is some kind of fictional dictatorship with a south american flavour.
Yeah looks to be a mix of a number of different regions and more of a fictional country this time, starting to have a bit of fun now but the game is actively fighting against it.
(Sometimes the game looks quite nice, like when viewed from high on far above, next stop through the clouds!.)
(Giving tethers to gamers may lead to certain situations.)
(I shot their military so they shot my depth of field shader.)
(I might be having fun or I might not be having fun, there's a lot of action but the game is spawning a endless trail of attack helicopters and armored vehicles and the escort AI is SHI..ning with their lack of self preservation ability.)
(This is pretty nice, falling to death at high speeds but the view certainly is nice. Also finally got the airport and can start exploring for real because the areas here are BIG and take forever to trek around on ground level.)
(That's the spirit, not a spaceship though so stop with the vertical take-off immediately or at least let me board first.)
(Wonder if the flying club is up here somewhere again.)
(What could go wrong!)
(Not much as it turns out.)
Aliasing is still a problem but up here the LOD is at least not too bad.
Well...there goes the image quality...and the beef.
EDIT: Hmm the image quality overall is quite rough really, some simple gameplay shots but short of downsampling that's going to be tricky until the game has been patched a bit and LOD transitions, shadows, effects and everything else isn't going to just be solved with MOAR PIXELS! Although aliasing is one of the bigger issues for screenshot quality along with post-processing so getting motion blur, depth of field and ambient occlusion to behave nicely isn't always easy.
That'll do for now until the 1.1 update comes out in a few weeks maybe and then to compare and see what that has brought.
Water for example with the ocean looking "alright" but the inland water can be terrible though even the ocean water doesn't hold up to the prior games in the series.
And other stuff, gameplay and the mission design and changes are also a thing, timers and waiting around and protection and escorts of all kinds but nothing new for this sort of game I suppose and then well UI and usability it's not too fun with a mouse+keyboard but the layout itself isn't going to improve even if navigation gets easier on a gamepad.
There's work to be done I suppose, time will tell how much they can do before the game is done with in terms of post-release support updates and content additions but we'll see.
Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Hmm so that's what Ashen looks like, I must have confused it with a entirely different game then as I thought it was isometric.
