With enough GPU hardware for downsampling to counter the shimmering and shader aliasing and dithering the game could look quite good, cars look great as does the cutscenes (How unexpected. :p ) the game world well it has it's moments though being more narrative and story driven than Mafia 3 or even Mafia 2 the base game railroads you along for a while through a number of cutscenes and early chapters introducing the game mechanics.

Runs well, stable and nothing much to say bit less clunk than the original and a improvement over the engine and gameplay issues Mafia 3 had although the AI and stuff is still the usual exploitable I suppose.
(It's a thing, Mafia 3 made combat look good though even if you could exploit the AI around corners or cover making it trivially easy in most situations.)

i see people complaining about performance and fps lock, runs very smooth with me

Yeah I can't complain but then I am comparing it against Mafia 3 which started at 30 FPS and then it has culling issues so the framerate can be all over the place, excellent cinematic direction though the haze and fog can make the regular game feel a bit washed out and the combat animations are fantastic even if the AI is well blind and deaf really.

The dithering on hair and other transparent objects and the lower quality motion blur makes screenshots difficult along with specular highlights and shader aliasing overall plus the game just like Mafia 3 uses it's own shader based AA and if that works like it used to then High is native res and the rest upscales from a lower resolution as something to consider. (But you can't separate the FXAA or what it is from the scaling.)

Render resolution scaling including higher resolutions and support for super sampling and a shift to a higher quality temporal anti aliasing solution would have been nice but ReShade for some tweaking and adding FXAA or SMAA with a 2x2 type DSR or VSR downsampling ratio if the GPU's powerful enough for it should help though.

If supported ultra wide is probably also really nice but some of the Steam screenshots showed odd stretching and cutscenes might be black bar framed to avoid issues with stuff outside of the 16:9 ratio viewing area.

Open world NPC syndrome applies as well so there's these important story characters all good looking mostly higher quality and then these pedestrian or civilian or whatever characters looking quite a bit worse.

Wanted a close up of the Don too but had to go with Bat-Man here because Don has this smoking thing going on and the texture quality for the cigar is terrible. :p
(Yeah nitpicking but in a screenshot it does stand out a lot.)

EDIT: Also if it's accurate then the depth buffer view in ReShade means there's a lot of pre-recorded cutscenes.
(It stops or goes off entirely when these play out.)

Intro one is obvious although it would have been nice with a fade to a full in-game realtime moment earlier.

    EDIT:

More Mafia 1 (Definitive Edition / Remake.)

People who post those beautiful screenshots in here without mentioning the title of the game should all be shot to death. :D

Holds up quite well, liking the details on these robot creatures.

Time to Skyrim climb this thing.

Pretty, also obligatory ominous tower of foreshadowing. :D
(I guess, probably some reason for it to be visible.)

EDIT: Just needs to support anisotropic filtering but as of the 1.0.5 patch I think it's at now there's not much I can complain about it holds up even a few years after the PS4 launch and with mostly a higher possible framerate and resolution improvement and some tweaks for the PC version.

Doesn't quite match Red Dead 2 visually but the art style and detailing is so far even for obligatory closed off tutorial area of beginnings pretty solid. :)

Might even match Witcher 3 in world building quality.
(Two newest Assassin's Creed games did a stellar job too although the sheer size and scope is massive for these games.)

EDIT: Yep nothing too fancy for starting out with, learning the game and the in-game usual character restrictive photo mode. Probably tools for it but this works for the moment.
(Asset quality is a bit dated though art style holds up still and the lack of anisotropic filtering support for texture clarity for distant views hinders things somewhat but eh nitpicking.)
