Alien Isolation + RTGI
@Horus-Anhur IMHO Alien: Isolation needs some good TAA implementation to counteract the edge shimmering. It's the only thing the kinda ruins the otherwise superb visuals...
I did take these pictures at 4k + SMAA. But there's still a bit of shimmering.
But I hate TAA. Not only it adds a lot of blur, but it also adds temporal artifacts.
It's probably the worst form of AA since quincunx.
Just use 200% render res, completely eliminates the shimmering.
Alias Isolation works well, resolution scaling or manually setting a (much) higher resolution which the game then downsamples through from how I remember can then mostly eliminate a majority of the games aliasing issues.
(The game also runs well enough where 4k, 5k or even 8k is viable on higher-end GPU's.)
Also useful for being able to set some other parameters and disable the barrel distortion effect, it's neat but it's a thing and it also increases aliasing.
Think that's about it, there's some settings tweaks with a popular one being for reflections and some really high value but as I recall the actual values are like 0 - 2 with 0 being full quality, 1 is half and 2 disables the blur effect entirely resulting in crystal clear reflections.
(I preferred 1 at times but 0 is probably thematically the most appropriate and fitting, offing the reflection blur and making it look like someone stuck a mop to the alien as it wriggles all over the floor is maybe a bit too clean for Sevastopol although it sure is shiny!)
EDIT: Oh right this improves the games TAA implementation with a variant of SMAA T2X I believe it was which while it's a improvement is still a older solution and not the best although unlike some other methods it's still pretty fast and it has a bit less blur as a drawback for overall temporal image stability.
FXAA or basic SMAA(1x) with downsampling might be preferred over TAA and some extra blur that introduces but SMAA T2X here and either with or without downsampling and possibly offset slightly by NVIDIA or AMD - or ReShade type - sharpening can help.
Not too much though or you get sharpening artifacts and such, personal preference is Smart Sharp but it's a bit costlier and has a few settings to configure though it also utilizes the depth buffer if available and gets overall really good results with a bit of tuning.
yeah it will eliminate the framerate as well.
The game aint very demanding though - i can do it at 4k, and maintain 60 fps
Yeah... and you have a 2080ti, it better run it at 60 fps! XD
Cleared the main game now on to the DLC.
Tentacles started in another ice area so skipped over to the Gunslinger one instead, will be back for tentacles once the casino and anachronistic western mashup are done with.
Some developer thing I guess.
I'm playing dmc5 and doing some stuff I like in odyssey, like naval battles.
