    AMD and Nvidia can probably improve the performance a bit via updated drivers, albeit the biggest gains would likely be SLI and Crossfire scaling unless there's something really wrong with the current profiles for the game. :p
    (Both AMD and Nvidia do have profiles for AC4 if I remember correctly.)

    Ubisoft would have to fix the rest by patching the game if it's that bad, from what I remember the performance in Assassins Creed 3 could have been better as well but it wasn't improved that much other than that more powerful PC hardware got released.

    EDIT: PCGamesHardware.de or GeForce.com will probably do performance articles for the game as well, should cover what the settings do and how overall performance actually is over varying GPU and CPU models.
    (Hopefully this game won't be as CPU limited as earlier installments were, utilizing more than two cores properly for example although I'm not sure how well AC3 performed in that regard since that and this game is a bit more demanding on the GPU due to the new features in AnvilNEXT.)

    the patch 1.1 is leaked by pirates ( no pun intended ) and it will fix the dual gpu performance and major performance boost in general for SP + MP


    same thing happened with splinter cell BL , i guess it's ubisoft's way of crippling the pirated version of AC4

    (Game has a FOV slider which is quite nice, also this is one of the UE3 games where you can enable DX10/DX11 without any drawbacks so I did that as well along with all the usual UE3 adjustments I tend to do.)

    (Unsure about custom keybinds, I did notice you have to copy the entire section over or the keys stop responding but I've not tested it further than that.)

    Nordi Games published this and the UE3 revision seems pretty similar to the one for Painkiller Hell and Damnation, Nordic51 developed it and I believe they were the ones behind that Painkiller game and the earlier Necrovision games which I really enjoyed though reviewers rated those as pretty average and the same goes for this game.

    EDIT: So the tweaks used.
    (Mostly form the UDK or UDN wiki's and the UDK itself and it's ini file presets to determine what various settings does and what improves visual quality.)

    (You can alter the others as well but this one holds most of the visual tweaks and such.)

    MaxProcBuildingLODColorTextureSize=2048
    MaxProcBuildingLODLightingTextureSize=1024
    (Higher LOD textures, won't make a difference unless there actually is high resolution textures to use, otherwise they will just be the standard res of 1024 and 256 respectively.)

    ImageReflectionTextureSize=2048
    (Higher resolution reflections, 1024 is a pretty good default though.)

    MipFadeInSpeed0=0.01
    MipFadeOutSpeed0=0.01
    MipFadeInSpeed1=0.01
    MipFadeOutSpeed1=0.01
    (Try to speed up MipMap *********, you can also try making it instant by setting the values to 0)

    bSmoothFrameRate=False
    (I don't like the behavior but it has a use if you want the game to feel smoother.)

    MinDesiredFrameRate=15.000000
    (This is a old UE2 setting that I just change anyways, does nothing AFAIK.)

    AllowJoystickInput=0
    (I don't use a gamepad or joystick but others who do might want to leave this alone.)

    MaxChannels=64
    (For both the audio systems, soundcard can handle 128 so I keep a nice middle between the original 32 and that.)

    PoolSize=512
    (Instead of just 160 MB, helps with ********* but uses more VRAM, you could try 1024 as well but you need a 2.5 GB GPU or higher in my opinion.)

    bUseMaxQualityMode=False
    (Enforces highest possible settings, I always leave this alone since it tends to bug out self-shadowing thus turning parts of the game pitch black due to the engine trying to use a system there's no shaders or data for so leave it alone.)

    CompositeDynamicLights=False
    (Didn't need to alter this but otherwise it uses a lower quality system for dynamic lights although you likely need a direct comparison to spot the difference.)

    AllowD3D11=True
    (Enables DX11, normally if the game does not support - missing code or shader cache files - it it'll just crash but it works here.)

    ParticleLODBias=-1
    (Enforce highest quality particle LOD bias, messes with the in-game options though so they will report V.Low if you change this.)

    MaxDrawDistanceScale=2.000000
    (Improved draw distance, I forgot what exactly this affected so you might want to leave it at 1.0 for balance between framerate and visual quality.)

    ShadowFilterQualityBias=-1
    (Highest quality shadow bias, same as the particle LOD bias above.)

    MaxMultisamples=2
    (This game actually supports UE3 DX9 MSAA but set this to 9 for some reason so I changed it, should work better under DX11 too but it could cost a bit more performance.)

    MinShadowResolution=16
    MinPreShadowResolution=16
    MaxShadowResolution=4096
    MaxWholeSceneDominantShadowResolution=4096
    ShadowFadeResolution=1
    PreShadowFadeResolution=1
    (Increase shadow resolution quality, this will affect performance though so 2048 might be better on balance between that and visual quality.)

    (Further tweaks to shadow quality, had a default of 0.5 so I upped it to full.)

    (Away with the logo movies.)



    And there were a few other commands as well but they were already at what I wanted them to be.

    (Shadow edge smoothness, from 0.x to 4.0, 4.0 is considered high quality but might appear too smooth in some areas so 1.x is usually used.)

    DetailMode=2
    (Older UE3 games used 0 to 4, now it's 0 to 2 with 0 being low, 1 normal and 2 high quality.)

    MaxAnisotropy=16
    (Full anisotropic filtering.)

    bAllowD3D9MSAA=True
    (Tends to do nothing, works in this game though since AA is available from the in-game options.)

    I am only at the beginning and I just tried how the game moves. 3 puzzle levels and 3 difficulty levels. Look nice but I must turn OFF distortion effect because game look bad with this effect. Some minor tweaks in config (AA, shadows) I like this genre. Reviews are average but the game looks it will not be bad

    You can press ~ and it'll toggle the console prompt, then press A to Z and it'll display the available commands, for HUD it seems only ToggleHUD and ShowHUD will work.
    (I believe the commands listed here are the only ones that work even if you try to bind others via key binds, thankfully the ini files are pretty open and easy to modify.)

    how is cpu usage in x rebirth, does it use all of your 12 threads?

    What happens if you lower LOD & view setting a bit (~80%)?

    yes I know about console but only FOV and toggleHUD works. Playersonly,Fly,toggledebugcamera not working.
    Same situation as with their previous game (Painkiller Hell & Damnation)

    I read from others that the game still runs at fairly low framerates even with everything lowered to minimum and at a lower screen resolution too, downside of using their existing engine perhaps?

    I should try to check CPU usage now that you mention it, at worst it will only use two or so effectively and offload minor tasks to other idle cores but I think it'll be a bit better than that since the X3 games were so CPU dependent so surely they built or improved the engine with better multi-core support in mind.

    Egosoft peps said it can use up to 64 threads, so it should be very multi-core aware, that's why im kinda curious why it runs so bad..

    They also said they rewrote it so it should be better then just 30-40fps.:frown:
