one of my favorite games of all time is called Boiling Point (it was released a few years ago) , anyway believe it or not the game was considered the buggiest game in existence, those problems you guys are getting in GTA4? are absolutely nothing compared to Boiling Point.

regardless of the bugs i enjoyed the game so much that i considered and still consider it one of my favorite games of all time, sort of FarCry meets GTA, a few patches fixed most of the "serious" problems.

as for GTA4.. i'm starting to think that Rockstar actually introduced those bugs on purpouse, i'm get this feeling donno why, don't ask. :3eyes:

haha that's true :) usually i'm ok with anything even moderately buggy games but seriously GTA4 & Rockstar do deserve the criticism, i usually fire the negativity only when absolutely warranted and in this case i reckon it's well deserved, plus i really did not like Rockstar attitude considering they've always been quite cool but not now, not only they spent 200k on a hateful DRM from EA but also released an extremely buggy game that pretty much won't even launch properly and if when it does it borders on unplayable, oh and they're also "boasting" about their stupid DRM protection which already partially failed and they did that in a rude manner treating people as criminals.

"we did not spend 200k on protection for you to play the game for free"

well done, you spent the money so NOBODY (legit or not) could play the game actually when you should've spent the money elsewhere to get the game basics right.

i'm sure you'll understand my disappointment. :bugeye:

I and others are playing the game just fine. Sure it could run better than 20-30FPS but so far I'm just enjoying the gameplay to care about the performance too much.

performance is the least of worries here, it was the initial experience and the amount of troubles that most people has gone through that bothered me really, we all know that the first experience is always the one that sets it all.

when you're so excited about a game and then you're greeted with a black screen or when the game won't even launch with various errors, it just ruins the momentum, at least get the basics right for god sakes, where did they develop this game? in a stable with cows mooing around?

that's all really, other than that game looks fine even at Low and you can put up with the performance until a patch improves things a bit, no big deal.

Those are scored according to Gamespot

So, about mediocre performance in a 2 page IGN GTA IV PC review.

    Author had:

    C2Q 6600, 8800GTX 768mb, 2Gig of ram, Vista 32.

    And he said:

"Yet with the PC version, you're going to need a particularly powerful machine to see it in all its splendor at a decent framerate,
as even on our system (Core 2 Quad 2.40 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 768 MB GeForce 8800 GTX with Vista 32) we were having performance problems even after toning down a few of the settings,
and some of the effects (the shadows in particular) didn't look so hot when displayed in high resolutions."

    lol....

If you are talkng about Niko Belic then... no he is not russian ... he is Serbian

    Source : http://gta.wikia.com/wiki/Niko_Bellic

And the voice over guy did a poor job on Serbian dialogue as well as on English ... he sounds like some Russian from the movies ...

Hehh, funny how this game works...

Those restrictions are the biggest joke ever: People are getting much higher Auto Configure levels (for example for example 800/400MB of your video memory) only by adding -norestrictions :)

The funniest thing is that the performance isn't dropping dramatically when you're using much higher settings :infinity:

Now that's true, that was a really good port if not one of the best.

    developers = take notice.

what makes GTA4 so tough on components compared to other games?
i mean there are plenty of games simulating a huge area with tons of NPCs and they did so effortlessly, take for instance Assassins Creed, performance was quite good and you had plenty of characters thrown on screen at once, it wasn't really a bad port, just had a couple of annoying bugs but nothing major.

Rockstar is not a n00bish company when it comes to converting GTA > PC, they've always been quite good, let's hope they learn something from this at least.
