    Mr.Bigtime - With a new game, random encounters I'd say.

    Protocol 48 - That reminded me of something. I turned off auto saves when I first launched the game as I'm pretty sure these options caused a few crashes when Oblivion was first released.

    I also noticed "bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=1" in the FalloutPrefs.ini.

    Perhaps changing the auto save options in FalloutPrefs.ini will prevent some crashes people are experiencing.
    Following options found under [GamePlay] at the bottom of FalloutPrefs.ini, change them to =0

    bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=0
    bSaveOnTravel=0
    bSaveOnWait=0
    bSaveOnRest=0

    I haven't tested bSaveOnInteriorExteriorSwitch=0 so you may want to backup FalloutPrefs.ini first, though I can't imagine what harm it could possibly do as long as you remember to save often.

    I might see if all my Oblivion tweaks work fine with Fallout 3. I'd guess that you'd want to change settings in the FalloutPrefs.ini before you start messing with FALLOUT.INI.
    But then again bShadowsOnGrass=0 is in FALLOUT.INI [Display] section and many other settings you may want to look at, as well as some new ones.

    For any one that hasn't played it yet, yes the graphics have been updated since Oblivion. Fallout 3 looks much better than Oblivion and a desolate world is a nice location for an RPG as well as a refreshing change. Not to mention it's AWESOME!

    No respawning every 2 minutes problem here, I even returned to big town and found the bodies of dead mutants still laying there a few hours and a few restarts after I killed them, also I did notice the same thing with indoor npc's in the few hours I have played.

    The game runs pretty good for me, 1920x1200 all maxed ingame and in the launcher, 4xaa msaa and 15x af and I'm getting constant 60 fps most of the time, I do get a little micro-stutter when the fps drops below 50 but that's very rare and turning down settings completely fixes it.

    Interesting idea, there's also an option called bAllowScriptedAutosave in the files but it's off by dafault, also if you do make a mistake or a change/changes cause crashes you can simply delete both *.ini files as fallout will recreate the dafault files on next launch.

    It's locked to 60 FPS.

    That's not to bad as I read somewhere the max a human eye can pick up is 60 FPS.

    Friggin cool! I was thinking it was a lot like Oblivion structure, what with the .bsa files and all. Once I get finished playing Fallout 3 and a few other recent releases (I think I'm going to get DeadSpace too), I might start working on a mod. Fallout 3 also has .esm, so I'm guessing support for .esp too.

    Now I'm off to play some more and think off ideas for modifcations...

    ...TE HE HE ;)

    And yes , the dead bodies stays where u kileld them..but my point is..

    if u start a NEW GAME..and u will do same quests again ofocurse..i wonder if u will see same enemies in same positions...and same models...

    Perhaps you would see NPCs in the same position for main quest, I'm not sure about encounters in the wasteland though, that could be random.

    I'm going to play some more now, but if anyone finds a pet dog will you post where you found it. My "Oblivion Shivering Isles hound" fell off a cliff into the sea and I'd really like a new pet.

    I'm not too sure about the models as I've really only seen the same npc enemies in any one place so far albeit with a few creatures here and there, but what I do remember from oblivion is that most things such as enemy respawns on entering a new scene/ game are quite random, although indoors it's likely they will be limited to a certain type and number of enemies but the npc's will generaly be walking about, though there might be some changes and I haven't got far enough to be certain.

    Also I don't agree on the 60 fps limit as when playing fear combat I leave v-sync off and though I can't see the difference above a certain number I can definately feel it in terms of responsiveness.

    Why are people so concerned about an FPS limit ? In an RPG as Fallout 3, you dont need more. Most of the time you'll be talking to NPCs and walking around, killing occasinally (unless you have an ichy trigger finger) :p

    Also about V-sync, I always have it on, I can't play with tearing when turning around, it really hurt my eyes and the games IQ. I'm impressed that people can play without it.

    On topic, this game is one of the most anticipated games I've been waiting for, and it lives up to what I hoped and imagined it to be. Oblivion was a good game, Fallout 3 superceeds it by far. Well done Bethesda.

    In ET 333 FPS helped a lot in trick jumping but that had nothing to do with smoothness. Anyway, people with 60 Hz refresh rate will not see any benefits from higher FPS than 60. Since most LCD's use 60 Hz I don't see why people want more FPS than 60. Though, my LCD supports 75 Hz and I personally think that nothing gets any smoother than 75 FPS.

    this damn game keeps getting better just like wine, love it!

    i'd easily vote FO3 game of the year so far, followed by Dead Space and FC2.

    EDIT: playing it with Vsync off @ 1440x900 4Xaa/8xaf and Ultra, in my ati CP vsync = Off (always been so, i never use vsync in any of my games).

    i see no cap of 60fps.

    screenshot = 84 fps

    Mr. Bigtime: (Spoilers) The Coolest thing about the game is that there are so many ways to do things, I accidentally bypassed the radio station by heading into Rivet City and speaking with Dr. Li. (Spoilers end)

    I haven't been entertained by a game this good since RE4 lol. I wish I could be a giant slut of the wasteland though. I wonder if you can catch diseases like Nuka-Herps? lmao. I'm at level 15 and just exploring the wasteland. The moral decisions in this game actually carry weight and it makes the quests very interesting and you can decide what to do at any time, it's so awesome.
