Thanks and yours is looking pretty sweet, I really dig the Asus boards with the "shield" thingy but alas they're all red . Also I'll admit I'd have tested both cards before putting my loop together since it's never a quick or simply task .

They are the same as any GTX 980Ti with reference cooler load temperatures
Remember that it's a DHE cooler = Direct Heat Exhaust. No hot air in the case. Just pulling cold air in from the front and bottom to cool the cards.

 

How many games can use all 3 cards without any issues? I always heard SLI is a pain for many games.

 

A lot. I have been a permanent 3 way SLi user since 2009 and scaling has only improved, and especially when you reach 1440p and higher the extra ressources really kick in. I can't remember having an SLi related gaming issues only one driver forceware 256.xx-something that made my PC stutter even in windows...but that's 5 years ago.

 

Except there's a lot less cool air to draw from when the top and middle cards are pulling radiant heat from the cards closest to them.

 

Not really. Before, this was my layout - Ungine Heaven 4.0 1440p max detail 20min loop. Top card 84 degrees celcius, bottom card 84 degrees celcius. The same temp as any reference 980Ti http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/nvidia_geforce_gtx_980_ti_review,9.html


Now the same situation with 3 cards. Top card 84 degrees celcius, middle card 84 degrees celcius, bottom card 78 degrees celcius.


Airflow and thermodynamics plays a trick here

haha that gave me quite a laugh. At one point i had 3 reference gtx 570's in my computer, my dad at one point also had 3 reference gtx 280's. Your comment is no exaggeration, i can vouch for that. :eyes:

 

Just Sharing my Setup..Just Upgraded my 980 SLI to 980Ti SLI..

 

Picked up a 2nd 780 on the cheap

 

Currently test fitting watercooling parts, managed to take a nice pic
