Bought a new fanless laptop. Naturally, I wanted it cooler, so I drilled some holes in the bottom cover in certain areas. Most noticable temp difference was the hard drive from 41*C to 37*C. Getting an SSD soon, so that doesn't matter.

The highest CPU has gone on load and during charging is 65*C. However, I've used the laptop without it's cover and unplugged and it didn't drop any lower than 58*C, so it probably won't make a difference. The hot spot is above the [F] buttons, so a few holes there should help.

There is actually some empty space I could fit a 2"x1" heatsink attached to a strip of copper (top left) to draw heat away from the CPU area. That is my next project.

edit* holes now drilled on top. I noticed that the hottest area is in front of the keyboard and there were no vents. Problem solved, and now to test.
Temps dropped from 61*C to 51*C on load It floats around 48*C when unplugged. I guess I shouldn't care too much about plugged in temp since t will get hot no matter what.
