thanks for the comments! yea slighty old components still rocks and perform :)). the 8800 series really have shown great value in terms of performance.

It's a very old Xion II case, it does look very nice but the funcionality in it is kinda standard

It's been working good so far, the idle temps are 36 degrees and under full load its around 51-52 degrees with my current clock settings.

Yeah, I remember my first 4870 I had. It wouldn't fit in my cheap case! I had to cut the hard drive cage out that I didn't use! Then when I got a second one, it fit with no issues. That one would fit without having to modify anything. :D

heres my new present that arrived in the post today (cm 690 II adv) - this case is AMAZING!!!!!!!
i can finally fit my rad in my case and all my drives comfortably, massive amount of room for a normal tower.
as you can see iv replaced all the stock fans with xiggys and got a 80mm typhoon on the hidden side - these changes have caused -5c Drop on load! mental.

    Awesome Jed,

sometimes wish I'd gotten a 240 rad instead of my 360. So much easier to fit a 240 in different cases. :)

    but... its a 360...

i'm actually planning to get 2x 240mm rads for my GPU loops, which will be mounted on the SIDE panel. :)

Another new cm690 2 - replaces my old antec 900. One thing i would say about this case tho is that the stock lower front fan doesn't seem to shift much air so i've installed an antec tri cool 120mm in the spare 5.25 drive bays . I also plan to add 2 x 120mm fans to the side panel.. (with filters )

    Anyway some pics..

Yeh 240 is enough especially if it's just the cpu and does help with fitting it etc. I may get a 120mm rad at some point to add to the loop , u think that's a gd way to go if you need 360 in total.

Seems alot of peps are ditching there antecs for the new cm! Good stuff , I couldn't believe how much better it is then the 900 - such a quality case,so props to cm. Can't wait to get the side window for mine.

congrats on the first build. Im sure you've already learned alot in the process. Usually after Im done putting a computer together, Ill twist tie (not zip tie) the cables together and put them against the back wall if possible. This makes it look neater, you will get a little bit better airflow, and is a little easier to clean in the future. If you dont have dust filters on the front yet, I would recommend some as they are real cheap. The intake fans on the front will bring in the most dust over time.
