I got my GTX 295 back plate yesterday and did some testing before and with, in OCCT it caused a 5C drop. I can't understand all the people bashing using it, saying it will make it hotter. Do these people not realize the back plate is essentially a huge flat heat sink for the rear of the GPU (connected by a thermal pad). It's the same concept as saying VRAM heat sinks cause temps to go up...but we all know this isn't the case and just like with VRAM heat sinks the back plate distributes heat. If you felt how hot this backplate gets it's obvious it's used to distribute heat, add support, and look cool. I'll try to post pics up tonight, but I may not have time before I have to drive back to see the family.
