The GTX 1080-Ti Thread

I just got my card to an additional 2012mhz after throttling +60 on the core. Mostly staying at 2025mhz.

 

You cannot compare the regular 1080 to the 1080Ti since the Ti has a "bigger" chip. I also had a 1080 Strix and like you it achieved 2100 on air without any problems.

 

I know that. But still my TI has average OC on GPU. MEM is a different story

 

Idk, I'm glad I'm not on the 19xx MHz side at least Anything over 2050 on air isn't that common, right?

 

2050 is good but everything above 2070 is win win
I will try to push my to 2050 but i doubt

 

I feel like my Seahawk is a pretty crap card then tbh! I never go over 45c, but I've noticed during FFXV I get the dreaded 1911 throttling. What's the best way to get it to stay at a high clock? Power limit mod ROM?

 

Undervolt is the only easy, viable option.

Undervolt is nice on Pascal.

I use .96v~ at 2050mhz with zero throttling.

Try like 1.0v, you could easily do >1911

 

Huh, well if that's the case I'll give it a shot when I get back. Bit confused as to how undervolting prevents throttling though?

 

Less voltage=less heat

 

His card is water-cooled, it's not an issue of heat. Undervolting reduces power draw, and coupled with the 120% power limit on the 1080Ti, is super effective.

 

I was playing with voltage curve editor and that is new max GPU OC.
2063MHz. Under 60°C core is 2063 and above 61°C core drops to 2050MHz.

Does anyone here use a card with "zero fan" mode that is able to keep the fan turned off in 2D/desktop mode?
I start to hate how mine is spinning up the fans every now and then.

 

My fans are running at max and I cant hear them.
Its fitted with an Accelero Xtreme III cooler though.

 

Well, idle there’s only one fan running, as exhaust, so I can easily hear every noise.
I might try that as an alternative solution. Better to have the fans running constantly st low rpm than to have them spin up once in a while.
The cooler on the Aorus is massive though, I wouldn’t think there’s anything to be gained by swapping it out (apart from even bigger stuff that has 2 120mm or 149mm fans).

 

My Aorus(non extreme) has the fans(3) at 0% while at 2d/desktop mode.

Does you card downclocks as it should ?(139,0&101.3MHz)

 

Yes it does, but it also raises the clocks now and then.
I do have a 3440x1440 100Hz monitor connected, that might change things a little.

Interesting to hear yours stays silent all the time...

 

Sure, sometimes the clocks go up a little but it's only to 1544MHz in my case and since the card idles at 40 something degrees there is a huge gap up to 60 something when the fan start to spin. 1544MHz and 25% load is quite trivial after all and shouldn't get the fans spinning.
