I do have excellent case cooling so that will help i suppose

I do agree that the Gigabyte Extreme build quality of the outside of the card could be better

without an oc (factory overclock) and below 65 degrees my card hits 2K , unfortunately it seldom runs below 67 after 20 minutes of gaming :D so at stock 1974 , i have a 30mhz oc which gives me a stable 2k all the time

What do you guys think of the strix regular and the strix oc? I plan to watercool the card...in this case, would anyone still prefer the oc model, for any reason?

Depends on what you need, quiet pc or cool card with some noise. What temp you get and what boost clock when you game?

I'd like to use this tool, but unfortunately, when EVGA Precision is running, i can't see my Logitech G510S OSD
Any ideas how to do that ??

Sorry I can't help with that, didn't use Logitech G510S OSD before.

Had a Palit 980ti and then a Palit 1080... great machines
Opted for a little more elitism this time with the Asus Strix 1080ti OC.. and now water cooled.
Will run some tests with my i7-6700K
Over clock everything and try and beat you

The OC model should boost a bit better since it's specced to achieve higher clocks but I guess nothing is guaranteed.

They're sharing the same board just a different BIOS...whose could be flashed of course if base boost(w/o overclock) is aimed to.

"Over clock everything and try and beat you"
Not going to insult you mate, but as benching a lot can give you an idea where to aim at as since 1080ti's launch i changed 3 CPU all hexa-core ones and pushed them hard with a good card.
8700k@5270 total result 27k +-200 points with very good GPU OC 2088/2100/12200+
7800x@5100 total result 25k +-200 points with very good GPU OC 2088/2100/12200+
5820k@4700 total result 24k +- 200 point with very good GPU OC 2088/2100/12200+
4 core CPUs(Kaby lake/KabylakeX @ ~5.2-5.4Ghz) are quite happy exceeding 22-3k overall Firestrike score with good GPU OC 2088/2100/12200+ and with 6700k and ~5 Ghz probably you're gonna end 21k or maximum 22k.

Dude I thought it futile as well, I see why he explained it to you.
Perhaps thank him for the effort he put in to save you a lot of effort.

Just got rid of the crappy evga 1080ti ftw3 icx 12ghz vram.
    1. Loud as hell
    2. Crappy gpu with 1924mhz boost (gets lower when running 4k, mid to upper 1800s)
    3. Power limit always near 90s%(oc bios!!)
    4. Precision xoc sucks big balls

The only good thing is the build quality, before you run the system.

I must have been spoiled by my gigabyte 1080 xtreme, out the box boosts to 2038mhz(I know 1080ti is different, but still 1924mhz is not exactly a good boost for $850 card), power max at lower 80s(torture) and temp RARELY touches 60c, and VERY quiet (and full support by msi afterburner features).

Bonus input: best 1080ti to include the above? Seriously thinking about the 1080ti aorus xtreme!!!

I am in two minds about upgrading to this from 2 x 970s. I game at 1080p (144hz), ideally I would need 120fps+ stable in all action heavy games (Siege etc) with all bells and whistles on. Do you guys think its worth the cash right now ?

1080 ti is awesome in max gaming 1080p 144hz (even in 1440p 144hz, but to a slight lesser extent).

Anywhere from 1900-2000~ is well within normal range even for top end cards, has no bearing on silicon quality.
You can't deduce that the GPU is 'crappy' from that.

Default power limit is 250w does not matter which bios you are using.
The fact that it hits 90% is normal.

If it's too loud and temps are low, set a custom fan curve.
    Not hard to do.
