I am very disappointed in NVIDIA at the moment with the GTX 1080 launch.

There seems to be enough (overpriced!!!) Founder's Edition cards to satisfy people's demand for those at the moment since there's always some in stock even, here in the UK, (unless people are not buying them because they are waiting for the non-reference cards or think they are too expensive?) but the non-reference cards are still almost impossible to get hold of despite the fact the GTX 1080 launched almost SIX WEEKS AGO!

I'm beginning to wonder if I will get mine before NVIDIA announce their next high end GTX 1080 Ti!!!

Just won an auction on FleeBay for a FE GTX 1080 for 500euros!!

The seller seems communicative so far but has 0 ratings so I will be extra careful.

Hope all goes well and I finally join the GTX 1080 club! :D

That would be a steal lol, I would be extra careful if I were you. But if all goes well then it's a jackpot all the way. :gape:

    Just paid.

After my recent ordeal on Ebay with a scammer which led to 1100+ euros been withheld for almost 1 month, I hope I won't regret it. Again.

    Thank you Ebay Guarantee. :p

My 1080 OC scored 15207 in Firestrike, this is like 4k bellow the Guru3D score, should i be worried about my CPU?

That's lower than my stock 1070 run mate, OC that CPU mate see what happens.

    Or is that Firestrike Extreme!?

Is this your Graphic score or overall score? It's pretty weird, can you give the link to the benchmark result?

Your graphic score should be above 21.6K.

Can't OC this CPU any more, it gets unstable and shuts down, i guess i got bad chip. :\

It's the score that pops inside the circle, normal Firestrike.

I did another test, here's the link: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/9210838

EDIT: I took a screenshot while benchmarking, it's a 1440p screenshot, which is what my desktop resolution is, dunno if this is the reason (being doing benchmark at 1440p instead of 1080p).

Blimey that sucks and your only at 4.2!

I run 1440p as well, doesn't matter, the benchmark will run what ever it's preset to run.

What are your temps like on the GPU? Is it boosting up? You def running PCIe 3.0 x16?

Really not sure what's up with your card, what drivers are you running?

    Edit,

Looking at your score you linked I think it'd your CPU as your physics scores are low. Your GPU score beats my 1070 by a few thousand, but my physics scores destroys yours as I'm running 4.7 and 8 threads

Try some games mate synthetic benchmarks might not be good for you as your on i5 and you'll think your getting a problem when possibly your not

I'm using the 368.69 WHQL drivers, temps don't go above 50ºC

Same card on the review with a much better CPU: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/msi_geforce_gtx_1080_sea_hawk_x_review,29.html

    19996 Total

My OC isn't that big, i'm using the MSI Gaming App OC mode.

Your graphic score seems about right, but i am surprised that you cannot get your chip higher than 4.2GHz.

And forget about the physics score. I only get around 8500 with my cpu at 4.6GHz because.... well i5. lol

Yeah, mentioned in my edit in my last post, it's the fact you've got an i5

Play some actual games to check your performance, sythentic benches aren't going to do you many favours unless you can find someone with an i5 to compare to

How is stock looking for the GTX 1080's?

I saw a gigabyte model on Newegg, but it seemed to be a stock board. It was 8+2 phases and 1 8-pin connector.

Any idea what some of the best models are? I've heard good things about the Zotac model. I've been eyeing the STRIX since I currently have a STRIX 970 my brother will be getting. DHT is pretty amazing.

I'm looking for more phases and more power connectors because I will be modding the card at the BIOS level to raise the TDP limit and setup custom fan curves without using software.

EL1TE, checked your score and you're 100% CPU bound. Hilbert used an extreme processor for its benchmark which gave a huge boost to 'Physic' and 'combined' scores.
BUT if you check the graphic score you're actually higher, Hilbert scored 21900 and you're at 22k+.

3dmark is a Benchmark not a video game. The overall score doesn't translate literally in video games, most-of which are not really CPU-bound nowadays.

With 22K+ in Graphic score you'll perform slighlty better than someone with 21K in video games with low/mid cpu usage.

TL DR: your score is good. Yet, try to overclock your CPU, this is your limit right now. You'll only see difference with 19K hilbert score in High CPU usage applications (and most game don't take that much).

btw, i had a i5-4670K before, and those babies can reach solid 4.5Ghz. You should focus on this if you wanna improve your gaming experience.

Thanks i get it now, i just bought 3DMark on the Steam sale and run it for the first time, no idea how it worked at all, guess i should have looked t graphics score, and it's only higher because it's in OC mode lol.

As for the CPU i can't really get it higher, i've tried 4.4 and 4.6 with different voltages and they all crash, 4.6 worked on stress test for 40m straight but then crashed.

With 4.2 i don't need to touch the VCore and it's completely stable, do you remember how much VCore you used for 4.5?

Not to forget i probably have a bad chip.

Disable any economy feature if there is (speedstep etc..). Then put 1.22V Vcore and set your ratio in Fixed mode, and work your way up playing with ratio and finalizing with BCLK if needed (i'll stay between 99.0 and 101.0 ideally).

Pretty sure any ship can reach 4.4 at least.

A fast test to check if your ship is in the upper 50percentile quality ship is to set vcore to 1.20, ratio fixed at 46. If you can start your computer, or even just pass the BIOS/UEFI, you've a top 50% ship.
