Go for it, the 980s are only superior in scenarios where SLI scaling is perfect, such as the 3dmark... overall in games single 1080 will be better. I plan on going single 1070/1080 from 2x970s, and I can pretty much buy a 1070 and have some money left from the 970s. Only problem is **** (still) availability of the 1070/1080s... and the overprice that comes with that.

If you can try it just like that then do it.

Make sure you try a lot of games and focus on the overall experience instead of just staring at the numbers. Also obviously temperatures and noise, two things that I'm quite happy about.

Frostbite games are excellent at scaling but games like Witcher or FarCry are worse. Make sure you try both kind :)

Gp102 will be roughly 50% more everything, it'll be 40% faster at least

    12/24GB g5x, ~3500/3800 shaders, 96 rop, ~210/240 tmus ~500gB/s memory

I've been doing some research and I have to say this 1080 is actually a bit disappointing

Although I do agree with you for the most part on the GTX 1080, it might be easier to sell/change it later to a Ti version than those 980's.

Just a thought. Not trying to say/suggest anything here.

The thought I had to change my 980Ti to a 1080 was simply based on that I believe it will be easier to change it down the road over the 980Ti.

That and the new toy to play with but mostly the above reasoning.

    Feeling you on this dude.

Fair points also. I think it's the principal for me, £600, for the performance it brings, well, it's just very underwhelming. £500 with a decent cooler and sure, I'd be feeling that, but as prices are, man, it's turned into a big disappointment for me and I feel kinda please stock has been so slow, it's given time for things to become clear

Its too bad this Evga card isn't actually all black like in this pic. I'm still probably getting this one, but if it looked like this. Wow! But what's the point when you can't actually see it. Most cases don't allow for video cards standing up. They should put the leds on the back plate. Or design the card so the cooler is facing up. I've never understood why they design it face down..

Never liked EVGA design, MSI looks cool...except for the corny dragon logo.

Are there any estimates of price drops for these? I just got my Acer X34, and my 780ti SLI setup is lacking.

Would need 1080 SLI but the prices are just ridiculous atm.

My guess would be another month at least, they need to start popping them out like crazy and fix availability.

I changed from 980Ti to 1080 and I'm very happy with this. Sure, it costs money but looking at the overall experience, it was definitely worth it.

When production exceeds demand which should be in mid July so hold on for 3-4 weeks and you'll be golden.

lol. They accidentally send you their secret prototype! :p

How does it OC? Does it reach 5-10GHz on the core? :D

Well since both core/memory OC provides about 10-15% gains, if you take out the core clock OC then I doubt the memory OC alone will provide much gains.

Also a small note that some suggest don't go above +400-450MHz since sometimes above +450MHz it affects the performance negatively.

Everyone is wanting +2GHz because well, it the breakout of the 1.xxxGHz "barrier"(without LN2 use).

Reminds me of the time when P3 broke 1GHz around year 2000. lol.

All GTX 1080 as stated in many reviews will perform really close to each other.

I'm sure the KFA2 GeForce GTX 1080 EXOC will serve you well.

I went to Best Buy to buy new Xbox one controller for PC cuz my was broken. I just happened to saw Geforce GTX 1080 FE for sale at 699 dollars and I don't know if I should buy it cuz I have been waiting for EVGA GTX 1080 FTW.

Should I forget about EVGA and grab those Geforce GTX 1080 FE?

I have GTX 970 right now and I would love to have 1080, so, i can set everything at max at 1440p

I see that Best Buy OK-Texas doesn't have any custom cards for sale. Could be wrong.

I would wait or order from elsewhere a custom(MSI X, GB XG, ASUS Strix etc) which might be end up even cheaper or same price of

But if ordering/buying a custom is not possible, then a FE will do fine.
