Nice catch on the single 8 pin, didn´t notice that! It´s gonna have some impact on the oc limits but it´s okay for me. For me it´s more important the cooling performance and the noise made by it. My previous GTX970 from MSI was silent 90% of the time and for me that was the best part of the card. I hope this one is also silent or close.

@Hittrix, i know i´m pushing it if i buy a 4K screen to go with the 1080 but the screen is something i keep for a very long time, 5 years minimum, and here at Portugal the price of 4K screens is basically the same price as the 1440p ones... For example i´m looking at a Samsung 28 4k screen with Freesync that costs 345€ and i can´t find a 1440p one cheaper than this!... Not to mention i don´t mind playing games with lower settings or play the most demanding ones at 1440p, if necessary.
Still feel free to recomend a 1440p if you want and i´ll give it a look.

    1440p @ 144Hz + G-Sync is the sweet spot for the GTX1080.

You do realize that Freesync is for AMD cards right ?

    G-Sync is for nVidia cards.

Don´t worry i know that. Freesync is just an extra, at least for now. And i´m not going to get the G-sinc BS unless there´s a screen with a very good price with it.
The sooner G-sync dies, the better for everyone!

Create a custom resolution of 2880 x 1620P, and run modern games at that. You will find that you get about a 15 fps increase.

Why did you upgrade to a 1080 when essentially a high clocked 980ti is giving stock or slightly better performance than a 1080?

Wanted a new toy. Some games were running sub 60fps at 1440p even when overclocked and they will run over 60fps with the 1080. Also, GameRock is supposed to be pretty much silent and it's the coolest 1080 on the market, or one of, which will be nice.

    That's all, really.

My Palit Gamerock 1080 arrived this morning. Awesome card. 2000/11000 on stock volts, max temps in TW3 (hottest game I own) with uncapped fps and 100% gpu usage is 66C. Insane. The card stays very quiet too. I'm amazed, this thing is as cool and quiet as my old MSI Gaming 970. TW3 maxed at 1440p with HairWorks and still 80+fps, insane.

Idle, I can't hear the PC. With the ambient noise from outside (Hampshire countryside), I can't hear anything. It's as if the thing wasn't sat next to me.

    Love.

Though I'm mighty surprised about your fps in Witcher 3 - 1440p/Ultra/HW On and you get 80+
I get around 80 in Novigrad without HW at 1440p/Ultra :(

New game, haven't gotten to Novigrad yet :)

Also, I'm running 5ghz i7700k and 3200mhz DDR4 which might help a little, but not that much I guess.

Need to play more TW3 but overall I'm very happy. Might even try some 3Dmark next.

IMO the Palit GR is the best air cooled 1080 out of all. Congrats on your purchase.

Thanks. That's what I've read about the thermals of the card, every review says it's the best cooler. The Palit JetStream and Gainward Phoenix 1080 also use the same cooler. Really impressive.

Ah, that could perhaps explain it :) I don't remember my White Orchard fps.

True, could very well be slightly better than 6700K at 4.5GHz and I only have 2666MHz memory. I suppose open world games do benefit from a more powerful CPU.

That's the most important thing, that you're happy
