Just as comparison, a 1070 costs 5000 SEK and a used 980Ti costs maybe 3500 SEK.

30% cheaper, same performance if it's aftermarket with decent cooler, less vram.

Not as clear cut a choice as some make it out to be

Having a less Vram on 980ti isnt really an issue. 1070 would probably run out gpu power long before Vram. Its a 1440p card.

What should be worrying the people who debate between those two is the support nvidia will give the older cards. If history tolds us anything (looking at 780ti) i would recommend 1070 even if you have to pay the premium.

3500 is pretty cheap. Cheapest I've seen here is 4000 and those are usually reference. Most people still want 5000 or more for custom ones.

I hope they sell for 4000 since I'd like that but since a new 1070 sells for 5k then people wouldn't pay the same for a 980Ti. On the other hand there is an immediate shortage of 1070s. The small amount of FEs sold out in minutes.

Yes, but from a value perspective, if you have a decent custom 980Ti, and you've overclocked it, a 1070 is a sidegrade unless you're in it for VR or you want the extra 2gb, it makes no sense to sell it for much less than what a 1070 costs, or rather, it makes no sense if you want to maximize value

How long? Why, would it degrade after running at its boost clocks for months...?

Im sure that prices will come down to reasonable levels after the demand drops and the supply increases. I hope at the end of the month that there will be 1070s available from the AIB manufacturers.

"How long" is a valid question, not in the long term, but in minutes. Does it throttle after 20 mins @ 2.1ghz or not, that is the question. :nerd:

It could have low production costs and still be expensive if production volumes are very low. supply, demand = high or low price.

Yes this true that the 1070 is a 1440p card but If you lowered the presets to high or medium you could probably do some 4k depending on the game.

I wonder why people are so focused on 2.1 and 2.2 GHz.

Can't you just be happy with the huge performance boost we got by going 16nm?

have some games doing less than 40fps minimal in 1440p today with gtx 1070... like hitman... mirrors edge catalyst... assassins creed syndicate... raindbow six the division...

in future is surely more common this situation... so is fine for 1080p card

yes in most demanding stuff at near max settings 980TI/ GTX1070 is a 1080p, GTX1080 1440p card.

I think big 1080TI and AMD Vega will be ideal 1440 - 1620p cards.

Well, I finally decided on the MSI GTX1070 Gaming X after much consideration. Apparently, there's a long queue for it at ocuk so I might not get it for a few weeks yet. In the meantime, I've ordered some extra fans for my case to deal with the extra heat.

Totally unrelated; 8800GTX is faster and smoother than Intel HD530 in CSGO, the benchmark scores would make you think otherwise, but, nope. 8800GTX still better than integrated gfx. I'm surprised.
