Thanks for posting this, I am looking at the EVGA Superclock at the moment as even though it only has One fan it is cool and quiet, which at the moment my 7950 is not (in the current climate the fans are easily over 3000rpm at about 74c!)

This card would be a huge performance bump for you. And yes the cards do run nearly silent. You would have to get an absolute crap version for it to be loud.

I think Nvidia's 3GB version approach is wrong tbh, nearly as bad as no sli. Too many cuts for 60 series this generation.

However, the GTX1060 is a good 1080p product, one that will allow you to enjoy your full back-catalogue of games. Have fun!

Anyone know how the 1060 compares to the 980?

I play most games with 2Kp DSR aiming at around 60fps. Only intensive games like Witcher 3 drop lower. Doom (Vulkan) I can get 60fps at 1620p DSR if I overclock.

I was going to buy a 1070 but can't afford it with the terrible prices here. I could sell my MSI 980 Gaming 4G for about AUD$600 on ebay and get an MSI 1060 Gaming X for $470 and make a nice little profit.

I don't a mind a sidegrade with a little extra VRAM but I won't bother if the performance is worse.

GTX 1060 SC wasn't in stock but GTX 1070 ACX 3.0 was (459 €). In the end I think it's worth the extra. I got quite a bit of money back from my old GTX 970 so I end up paying only half of it in practice.

You're going to be blown away by the 1070. It is almost as fast as 970 SLI.

All of the 10 series cards are selling out as soon as stock hits the shelves.

    I have the Gigabyte GTX 1060 (D5 G6 model not G1 Gaming).

Idle sits around 33-36 C. Heavy gaming it can reach 69C.

Solid card, huge upgrade coming from AMD 7770. However, coil whine is super annoying to me. It's a plague on all the Gigabyte 10 series card that I've seen reviews and feedback for. For what I paid for I can't complain though as I got it for $225 during a Newegg promotion when the card launched. Just going to live through the coil whine I guess.

I recently bought this to replace a Radeon 7870 OC I had in the same rig in my signature. Games such as Fallout 4 or Witcher 3 needed to be toned down a good bit to Medium/High levels to reach remotely playable 30-33 FPS on a 1080p monitor.

Now I can not only run them at 60+ FPS solid, but also with all settings set to their maximum. I am extremely pleased.

I picked up this Zotac GTX 1060 Amp! at B&H for $288. It is very quiet and has given me no issues.

I'm thinking about getting a 1060 to replace my 660 SLI setup, because i'm finding nearly every game i go to play lately doesn't support SLI properly (the most recent being SOMA which has flickering light sources, which makes me think SLI is an afterthought these days) and in the ones that do, it still isn't enough to max them out, but looking at the benchmarks, it looks like it there are a bunch of games, witcher 3, tomb raider 2 etc where it can't manage 60 fps which makes me worry that it wouldn't be a good long term investment.. The 1070 is double the price though!

The ASUS dual is a nice card too. It's like a budget STRIX card. Has three heat pipes and is quiet. Most of the time they are around the same price as the Gaming X or less.
