Does EGS pose a risk to Steam?

    Yes totally!

ontopic: Is steam in trouble ?
They sell so many games , i find it hard to believe they would be in trouble.
I only seem to have problems with the bethesda launcher. which fails to launch or lagg or whatever at times.

Its great to have many launchers, it means there is diversity and its open for publishers to decide what to do.

I hontestly do not care who sells what , as long its working fine on my end. Some people are glorifying certain launchers though (because of their legit reasons) , but that is actually against the openness of the pc platform to sell a game where you want. So im not a fan of that.
Best would be no launcher at all , something like GOG.com is offering.

Also i can understand the 30% what Steam takes can be too much for some devs, so it would be nice if it was equal amongs all launchers, but no way that will ever happen.

Apparently EA might be releasing some games on Steam again... interesting if true.

Maybe it will be just older games?

Or maybe it's a plan at trying to save Anthem after seeing Destiny 2 blow up in player numbers after moving to Steam.

    *shrugs*

Just a rumor at this point.

I’d prefer if EA closed Origin and made all the games Steam keys. Origin is the worst client.

Isn't the new GOG Galaxy 2.0 going to house all platforms?

And why is it the worst?

For me, Origin has faster download speeds, better customer service (which has always been on of Steam's biggest issues) and Origin's refund policy is the reason Steam finally changed theirs.
People are free to like and dislike whatever they wish, I'm just curious as to why you see it as the worst.

    When, to me, it's... fine.
Yeah, it's not as feature rich as Steam, but it's fine. And EA have enough titles to sustain a platform on their own.

Im also quite happy with origin. customer support is awesome, they helped me with getting new games if i owned them already (because of activation limit was removed in later versions).

I know people want all games in one launcher, but id rather have no launcher at all, which would make it more convient and give some extra performance as well.

    Yeah.
I have no issues with multiple launchers, what drives me to use one of the other... is not just the games offered. But, how the company behind it acts and handles themselves.

i got long standing bad blood with EA going WAY back before origin and i was gdamn near boycott before it came out origin was the last straw nm dealing with "customer support" sure it is not the same platform now i could hardly give a f.

Even EGS has more features than Origin. They stopped developing the client some 5 years ago.

At least EA didn't have to bribe other publishers for titles to fill up a store. :p

Sorry, I have no problem with EGS in concept. My issues fall down to Tim and how Epic present themselves.

I wish EGS didn't have exclusives. I guess they need some way for people to shop at their store. It's still shady.

    Yeah.
It's the only way they can have a store, they have one title of their own...
And, given how bare bones their platform is... most publishers won't go with them given the other options. And, it's made worse that Epic only want exclusives.

i guess they rather give up some share to valve to increase sales on their crappy games.

more likely origin's costs aren't being sustained by the sales.

I still have hope for the C&C 95 and Red Alert Remaster.
