Yeah, me and Wolfman are in soft of competetion.
like 2 kittens over a ball of string =)
Holy cr*p - we went past the 40k barrier!
I went to 10k
DevilDude - You're going to overtaker double_cut before long!
I found out why my P4 wasn't doing as good as it could - I had NetMeter on it and NetMeter was always using 6 - 10 percent of my CPU power to power it's resources! So I turned it off.
i gotcha crossfire! i need a quad core so i can take on aircool
Bah! I'll just got out and buy a pair of nocama cored xeons and a cheap-o tyan board from ebay
OMG Nooooo!!!!!! Renegade AND Wolfman have passed me!! Ahhhhhh I gotta get going! :tomcat:
I love a call to arms... I'm back and actually folding properly! Giving the 6.00beta1 F@H a shot, I read somewhere there was a noticeable ppd gain. I may also bring out my Celeron linux box and experiment with the beta on a linux platform too... See if there is any performance increase on that, but I am wondering if I could even up the ante... Anyone know about and performance gains out of using linux vs windows, or even 32-bit to 64-bit with these new beta clients?
I love that Allway Sync program! So self explanitory and may even solve my previous problems of EUE's and WU corruptions...
Welcome!! Good luck folding.
Ahh yeh know genius is my middle name
Has anyone ever messed around with F@H on Linux?
i have overtaken wolf and cross =D
Nope - I don't think so... actually somebody posted on one of the threads not so long ago about folding on Ubuntu. I'm afriad I can't find the post just now.
It's nice that you have understanding for fair rivalry.
I was just playin' with them.
Ahaha, I just turned in a 500 pointer, and working on another!! My overclock has helped noticably.
Yeah, I've actually just started folding on my laptop, which just so happens to run Ubuntu 7.10. I was just wondering if there are any significant advantages to using Linux over windows... I'm sure it makes some bit of difference on lower-end machines, like this 1.2ghz Athlon4 Laptop. So far it is running flawlessly. We'll see if it turns in it's WU properly, or if there are any issues that arise...
Perhaps I should set up a dual-boot 64-bit Ubuntu on my main box and give folding a shot on there... :cops:
I wanted to run 64Bit Ubuntu on this rig but apparently it doesn't support my WiFi Card.
That's a shame! That's also why I'm still wired! :approval:
Anywho, I will give my rig a break tonight and get a 64-bit Ubuntu on there and see if there is any real performance increases on F@H. Surprisingly enough, it's real easy to run F@H on linux...
Anybody want to hook up their Quad Core to fold for me?
I need more folding power. Where to find it....
