Win 7 64 bit here.
The game has to be running 60fps all the time.
Even if it drops down to 59.9fps and back up again to 60.0fps that will cause you to stutter.
Its the way the engine was built it was built for a fixed frame rate. TEW does use idtech5 engine but they modified it to work with what they wanted. They targeted 30fps and built the game around this frame rate. Which is why they said they wouldn't support 60fps even though they did allow it in a new patch. 60fps in this game can also break some of the physics and other stuff as well as its tied to the games engine speed of 30fps. Much like Skyrim which is locked at 62fps by its engine. If you totally uncap the fps in Skyrim the physics in rooms can go nuts.
Makes no difference here, stutters at 60 or 59.9, 30 frames runs smoother. Only snag is cos it isn't true fullscreen, it won't let me force 1/2 refresh rate via inspector... that along with capping the frames with RTSS usually gives me perfect frame times.
if your gpu is running OC speeds try to lower the clocks it might help
Nope, that didn't help either. Guess I'll just settle for 30 frames.
Is the DLC out yet? I cant see it...
Unless it's blocked in your country for some reason it should be visible.
(If it is blocked then a country code should work to at least view it's store page, such as http://store.steampowered.com/app/345980/?cc=us )
Played a little before going to work this morning, but... what I played I loved.
Much different playstyle then the base game. Kidman works differently from Sebastian.
So far no weapon, and her gameplay is entirely stealth based.
She has an actual cover system, and the ability to lure enemies to specific spots to clear a path to where you need to go.
sli does work..
its not 100%
but I get about 10-20fps increase in the evil within. and usage on both gpus
sli compatibility bit(dx1x): fear 3
nvidia predefined SLI mode : SLI_PREDEFINED_MODE_FORCE_AFR2
^some say it helps with visual glitches.
It runs smooth here if OC'ed by 59.9-60fps after 2nd or 3rd patch, even when it dropped to ~ 54ish fps by lots of smoke/light/shadow fx. With initial release it was really bad though..
You on windows 8?
W8.1 here, same CPU little higher overclock. I just started the assignment, Its smooth for me, 60fps with few dips but i didnt notice any stutter.
Didn't you get the DLC as well if you pre-ordered ?
If you pre-ordered you got the "Fighting Chance DLC" pack.
But not any of the Season Pass DLC.
Was this game updated tonight with a 6.1 GB patch?!!!?
That's the DLC "The Assignment".
Can you play DLC with weapons?
I mean, I quite in the game and didn't come across any. Just flashlight.
Kidman's story is pretty much all stealth based.
She's not as strong as Sebastian. There's only one very brief moment in the DLC when you get a gun... but it's only for that one moment.
Other wise the entire point is that she can't take them on like Sebastian does. She has to avoid and run from them.
15 minutes into the DLC and nothing but just scripted walking sections with story stuff. At least put in all in one cutscene. Why do they feel i need to be in control when literally they give me nothing meaningful to play with? It's a problem with so much games lately
Ahh yeah, that was it, thanks.
