This game is a mess, technically and beyond.

The FOV, black bars, 30 FPS and use of the Idtech5 engine are all letting it down in a big way and the devs seem to think that an inordinate amount of gore is frightening (which it is not).

I know there are 3rd party fixes for most of these problems but when I shell out money for a AAA title, I don't expect to have to start altering files etc in order to play

I'm not sure why people insist on comparing it to RE because I played RE fairly recently and it's nothing like RE (bring on the RE remake :D )

The 'upgrade' system in this game is laughably stupid and completely unnecessary, there are far better and less time consuming ways in which that could have been implemented.

Some people seem to enjoy it, and to each their own, but I think this game is pretty weak and I hope the patch does address a lot of the aforementioned 'design decisions'.

I'll definitely give it another try after the patch.

HAHA! You got SLI? You're an elf now :p This game doesn't support SLI due to the choice of engine.

    And... ?

I've finished it once, and I'm about halfway through my second playthrough.
It may be surprising... but a LOT of people... replay their games.

I don't like that people are actually bashing the story. That is the one thing I love about this game.

The thing I don't love is the whole 'putting player in confined spaces to make them feel uneasy'.

Framerate dropped to 20fps in that smoky area with the box boss. Had a very hard time playing where I just used my brain (rare a game does that) and froze him then exterminated him.

    20fps!??

Strange your PC is better than mine (minus the HyperThreading) you should not see drops like that at all.

I even upcapped my framerate half way through the game and got a rock solid 60fps it only dipped a few times during checkpoints/loading.

    EDIT:

Oh now I see you don't actually have a GTX970 just yet ;)

Strange. I never had any drops, runs surprisingly good.

I guess your having some crappy GPU. That 970 cant come fast enough. :D

The plugin has to be updated to match the patched exe data. :)

Just fired it up and changed it to Full Screen and No Letterboxing in the options, and it looks exactly how it looked with Flawless Widescreen for me :D

Glad I held off playing this...although havent really been affected by the 30fps or the black bars.

Is a bit crap though that so often after getting a game you are left waiting for a patch.

Thing is who doesnt have other games they cant turn to for a month or so..?

Or trying being a Rome2 player...what was it ten patches or so? Aish.

    Using fullscreen option in-game.

Before when using the R_aspectratio command to make it fullscreen (removing the black bars), he was further over on the left, as it was just zoomed in, and i wouldn't have been able to see the gun in his hand, or the top of his lamp.
