Nice to see such a large patch, but sadly.... it doesn't do anything for the game's performance.
This is mostly bug fixes and balancing.

Driver forced AF @16x really fixes those lines, just tested it in main menu.

I remember by Rage I had to use ANISO_MODE_SELECTOR_COND and max 12x, here its fine by normal mode.

    Edit:
game perf. still kinda sucks after latest update., I mean there is gpu usage cap or api limit somewhere in the code.. I'm always ~ 80-85%..

From 1440p to 2160p (gpu usage 1st row, last number)

The last update had no performance fixes in it.
It was all bug fixes and a few balancing issues.

I played it at 900p/medium settings to get a stable 60fps which wasn't ideal, but I don't have faith they'll fix it anytime soon so I don't feel too bad for not waiting.

They did a good job fixing up the first Evil Within.
Within the first couple of months, they had it running at a solid clip at 60fps. So... I'm hopeful that it'll be stable pretty soon.

I've noticed after the 1.03 update that I am getting this weird screen tearing lines. Does the forced vSYNC from the NVidia drivers fix it or is it what TJ was talking about a couple of posts back?

Okay, so by forcing vSYNC on in the "The Evil within 2" profile of NVidia control panel seem to fixed the weird screen tearing I was having with version 1.03. :)

Just finished the game, the first one was definitely better than the second one in my opinion. Going to play it alittle with the FPM mod, and probably uninstall it later.

On Chapter 15, really liking the game, anyone getting a slight Silent Hill vibe from it, especially some of the themes in the game.

Downloading now to play in first person mode. I did my first playthrough on my old PC (3570k @ 4.3GHz / GTX 970) and had to settle for 900p/medium for 60fps, but I recently built a 8600 @ 4.8GHz / GTX 1080 rig so I'm hoping I can brute force the performance issues this time. I think first person mode is going to be awesome and I'm looking forward to running through it again.

EDIT: First person is great, performance is fine for me but it's pretty obvious they haven't improved it at all since I last played it, so lesser machines will still struggle.

Medium is the sweet spot IMO. I can barely tell the difference in visuals, but medium lets me hit the 100fps sweet spot most of the time. I can do 1080p/ultra and never dip under 60fps though, for those with 60Hz monitors.

    Just tried it out.
Performance does seem a little better. It's still not ideal, but it does feel like a small improvement.

First person mode is... neat. It's not great, you can clearly tell it's a third person game. Using cover is kind of a pain with first person mode on.
But, the first person mode does show how great some of the areas can look. As it gets you much closer to the details.
