I was thinking/excited about getting the new ati card when it comes out early next year, but this thread has just reminded me why i have never bothered with AMD in the past,i think ill just hang on for the nvidia cards, why so many bloody problems with ATI?????

I have not tried Ultra on a single 5850 (which should be equivalent to 6850) yet but even though "wilderness FPS" was around 60 "town FPS" was way lower. Are you sure about your statement?

I'm not sure about the Nov3 driver. I skimmed the thread and it seems to be some mix between older and newer file versions of the latest WHQL. Or am I wrong?

a 5850 is better than a 6850. Right now i'm using 11.10 + cap4 for my crossfire and since it doesn't work very well i use only one of my 5850s for the game and like he says im getting 40-60s (mostly 50s to 60). I haven't installed the nov3 drivers for the same reason as you, reading that topic and seeing it's a mix of files between versions.

I don't understand why the mods deleted my thread

i'd like to submit a SKYRIM CFX Fix that worked for me.

    Just rename TESV.exe to Oblivion.exe.

    Ati Driver im using: Xtreme-G 11.10 Win7-Vista 32-64bit
(i don't know if this driver is necessary)#

You will also need APP Profiles 11.9 CAP4

I don't know if this is old news, i just want to help.... :bang:

    MY FPS is now 85~120..
    sometimes 65, mostly above 85!!!

    Max Settings, FXAA on
    ..etc etc.

    Screenshot: (98 FPS! Right Corner)

    This isnt news...

The oblivion profile works to enhance performance for single cards as well

why do people still complain about CFX then? if you get above 100 FPS..

because they dont want to use an old profile, they want it to work properly with new enhancements.....

also, the scaling isnt great either...

The oblivion profile was created by AMD 2006, its now 2011.

BTW, bioshock and gtaiv work as well...

Renaming it to fallout3.exe also works.

Please Note: FXAA blurs the textures...I recommend you avoid it unless you like looking at a picture that looks smeared lol.

actually fxaa isnt as bad as MLAA with blurring, yes a little blur exists but i'll take it over no AA

    Ah, thanks for the correction.
I played an hour yesterday and the RP Oblivion profile mostly works well but I still get unexplained slowdowns while looking at a specific part of a wall (in caves).

There is a mod on Skyrimnexus that fixes FXAA at no expense of your performance. Sharpening the image was one of the main features. Also adding some post-processing functions (I think).

I get the best results if you add the dll and rename the game to crysis.exe... Great FPS outside of towns, still get major slowdowns in some big towns when overlooking everything tho

Um...a single card plays the game fine, yes even your 5870. To toss a game aside, and a most excellent experience it is, because you aren't getting 100fps is quite stupid.

Mot me...i would rather have crisp and sharp object textures and deal with a few jagged edges than blur it to a mess. Afterall this game is using an older engine anyway so to smear the already low resolution textures and objects in some spots is terrible. I can tell a difference instantly between fxaa on and off...i want it off. All the mod on skyrim nexus seems to do is reduce the amount of fxaa applied to the scene, but i still don't care for it.

Managed to get crossfire scaling with the oblivion profile. Now I'm hitting 60fps outside with 4xSSAA on Ultra settings. The lowest I've seen the FPS drop is 36 which is in Whiterun but that's only at certain spots.

If a proper Skyrim profile can improve performance even better, I'll be happy. Until then, this is good enough.
