I've always accessed this website with IE / Edge. I know people who use Adblock and the developer behind Adblock has recently enabled a feature which allows non-intrusive adds through, not quite sure how that works though.

If you can spam an ad to 100.000 of users, 1% even equates to a 1000 customers.

I disabled Adblock Pro and Disconnect temporarily. According to PrivacyBadger there are 17 trackers being loaded just from this one forum page..... That's ridiculous. Page load time, approx 30 seconds from the time I hit "refresh" until I could scroll down the page. PrivacyBadger by default only blocks ads and trackers that the EFF have deemed to be "intrusive"....

Update: I hit "refresh" again and 65 trackers are caught....and here people are worried about the NSA and CIA....

That was my point when I said java begets java begets java begets more java. One ad banner fetches other ads or visits to servers you never even know about. And each of those fetches more, on and on.

Now imagine someone sitting there with 5-20 tabs open like some people do...and no ad blocker...and 4-8 ads showing on each page like Guru3d does. I hope they don't have a data limit! I actually do and I'll be damned if I will allow obnoxious, intrusive, despicable ad servers to steal it from me, if I can stop them.

In a nutshell I am opposed to ANY traffic of ANY kind that I do not actively click to initiate. Period. Anything else is theft, hijacking, whatever you want to call it, in my book.

Deliberate trickery to get clicks (ever try to download a file from a sight and there are like 3+ bogus 'download buttons' on the page?) should be straight up illegal and enforced/punished. Those popups pretending to be a Windows or virus scanner alert saying "your PC is infected, click here to fix" that really install adware/malware? Criminal bull***t!

All that said, I hate running ad/java script blockers. Hate it! But I hate the tactics of ad companies even more. I have to run all that crap to protect my property, that would absolutely, positively, be filled with malware and broken in short order if I didn't.

I block ads with a host file, so unless I know the ad service providers address I can not unblock it.

I white listed Guru3D in Adblock Plus, and ads do not show, because of the host file.

Do most of my browsing on my tablet or phone so no adblock there, I do use adblock on the PC however, I'm more than happy to whitelist Guru3D on the desktop, the ads here really don't bother me at all, forget they're there half the time.

    Hilbert,

Even though I have adblock disabled and have also donated what I can, I would like to ask, is there any way you could create a donate button on the top of the main page next to the other buttons to hardware reviews, etc? It seems kinda strange that you have it hidden in the contact us section.

Yep. I think if they a button linking to it directly from the main page people would be more likely to donate. With where it is located right now I forget this site even has the option to donate at times. I only remembered because other members posted links to it, as such I made a donation.

Guru3d still gets paid regardless of whether the ads "work" or not, so that argument is moot.

Does anyone know what a typical page load is worth for the style of banner ads that are used here?
