They both cost about the same... I do prefer Nvidia to be honest. I'm just reading the 6870 review here on guru3D and I seriously can't make my mind up... What are you guys gonna get?

Well I have read it here on guru3d. And honestly hd 6870 is faster then the gtx 460. But thats stock 6870 vs stock gtx 460. Im gonna get the hd 6870. I never have driver issues cause I dont run dual video cards and cant be arsed to hope that nvidia cards will work my monitor. POS gpu scaling in nvidia cards since nvidia made physx drivers.

Im not that worried about that. Cause come feb im building a new pc. But even my cpu usuage is very low except in gta4 pretty much. I know the C2Q is showing its age. I game @ 1920x1080 and that removes some of the cpu bottleneck issues. Except older games my gpu is always @ 99% usuage.

I recommend the HD 6870 over the GTX 470, it performs better in most of the games.

For me though, I'm waiting for the 6970.

The 6870 performs better in most games in the guru review. In the Anandtech review, its the other way around with the 470.

That's because it's an old, old 470 review with launch drivers.

well, looks like the 6870 is faster than the gtx 470 only over here @ guru. all the other reviews say the gtx 470 is faster. I might just wait a little bit longer before I decide.

Anandtech also includes an overclocked GTX460 in their review, which invalidates the entire review. If you're going to claim to be non-biased....don't include a biased set of benchmark results. Also, if you look at the resolution used...Anandtech's comparison between GTX470 and HD6870 are in line with Hilbert's. The framerates are exactly the same, but the overall result is. You just have to find the 1920x1080 graphs. This is where I'll stop worrying about Anandtech's nV biased review, as they even state early in their article that they beleive nVidia's OVERCLOCKED GTX460's should be compared to AMD's STOCK clocked cards. To me, that simple idea alone discredits the site and removes all legitamacy.

Most of the other reviews include higher resolutions. Hilbert's comparisons seem to be focused on 1920x1080. nVidia's high-end cards typically do scale better at higher resolutions than AMD's mid-range or upper mid-range cards.

I´m undecided between going cheap and buying an 6850 or 460 1g or spending a few more euros and getting an 6870 or 470.
It´s the first i´ve seen ATI and Nvidia both with great cards and similar prices.

No no no. You're making the same mistake the Nvidia fanboys do. "We can't compare this to this because it isn't 'fair'"

No, bull****, the FTW edition exists. These reviews aren't for satisfying egos, they're for purchasing decisions. The point is, a faster 460 can be had for less money. That's an unavoidable fact, and even if you OC the 6k series, which, like I predicts, OCs for ****, you won't hit the speed of the 460.

Nevermind that it is completely asinine to negate an entire review when you can find no flaw with its methodology, you're just pissed they included something faster than the card you want to be fastest.

I dont understand how including an overclocked card invalidates the review. If anything it gives a good idea on how well the 460 can perform once its potential is unlocked.

Frankly, I think the GTX460 is better value for money once you overclock it. I have 2 MSI Cyclones and one of them overclocked to 850/3800 is actually outperforming the 6870 in vantage and my CPU is clocked at 3.5 rather than guru3d's test bench 965 @ 3.7.

...and I paid $220 vs the ~$275 asking price of the 6870.

Yes the 6870 will overclock, but by how much. Remember the clocks are pretty much maxed out, 20 to 30 mhz increase for the most.

The only 275 is the XFX, the others can be had for 230-240.

The 6870 will overclock much like a 5870, perhaps slightly better. I'd expect OCs of 1000-1050mhz.
