Link: yeah.... you have the FHD2400 too from what i recall... but you also got it open boxed from Newegg, if i also recall correctly. Otherwise it would have been roughly $550. nutyo: who says? Just because a monitor's more expensive, doesn't always mean it's leaps and bounds better than some of the other monitors you can get for cheaper. 9 times out of 10, all you're paying for is the name. Look at Apple's cinema displays. Yeah... they're pretty.... but you can find something equally as good or better for quite a bit less than they usually charge.
The new Dell 2408WFP is another great option, but I'm not sure if it's even 'available' yet as it's had some availability problems. I would give my vote to 2408WFP :nerd:
You guys don't understand what a $660 LCD offers. My BenQ FP241W is my multimedia display. I watch 1080i Cable TV on it and 1080p Blu-Ray. My monitor is a 1:1 display version and it truly is impressive. People say it is the most clear display they have ever seen in games or video playback. For $660 I feel like it was a great buy. However if you aren't into high end displays and graphics you wouldn't understand buying it. The AU Optronics (S-PVA panels) are way better than your TN panels.
..... yeah..... and it's also apparently no longer sold on Newegg..... and seems to match the now $480 Gateway FHD2400 in every aspect but brightness, where the BenQ is 100 cd/m2 higher, and if you ask me, after how bright my Gateway is...... that's BAD. Actually have to turn the contrast down... otherwise it's way too bright. Don't see why your BenQ is any better than the Gateway FHD2400 that's right in front of my face. i also watch BluRay movies on it.... play games.... and it's stunning. If you ask me, it's still more a matter of the case of paying for the brand name badging. You can get 24" monitors anywhere from $400 to $1,000.... and the only thing that seems to differ between my $480 Gateway, and the $1,000 LaCie, is the name.... the LaCie seems to lack any form of height/position adjustments..... and has a slightly slower response time..... and has two HDMI ports instead of the one my Gateway has, but the LaCie is lacking S-Video, Component, and Composite inputs.

Apart from the bells and whistles of the BenQ, I don't see what makes the BenQ so special and worth so much more - $$$.
I have nothing against S-pva monitors they are great for photo shop and graphics editing but they are not gaming monitors, at least not yet any way they have lag issues atm, and I for one don 't wanna be killed because the guy I see has already moved away.
You are insane, my S-PVA AU Optronics panel has zero lag or ghosting. The new BenQ FP241WZ (the newer model of mine) has some of the cleanest video playback to date by inserting a single black frame between video frames to create a perfectly clear picture during video playback. That Gateway is a nice monitor but it still retailed for $550 and it is a year newer than the BenQ FP241W but still can't out pace it. The big difference is the brightness and richness of the FP241W's color, the gateway can't match it. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2213483,00.asp
So even though its got a TN panel, would you say the new BenQ V2400W Is a good buy? Then later on down the road when OLD does come out i can go and grab that ;D
