This makes no sense at all. I know people running a 3700X with water cooling, where the CPU temp never goes above 62 under FULL load.
It boosts to 4300 / 4275 max on a single core and does around 4175 all cores in CB20.
Running with 62 deg C CPU temp, should easily boost to 4400 MHz since Ryzen Master says 95 deg C is the limit.

With my Noctua NH-U14S cooler, my 3800X hits 4.65GHz boost on 3 cores, and 4.55GHz on the other 5 cores. The CPU randomly pics which ones hit 4.65 and 4.55. Under load, my CPU runs at 69-70 degrees. I am not overclocking at all.

Isnt there also a power limit ? as well as the temp limit ?

It never reaches any of the limits, not even close.
    At least according to RM.

My 3700x just hit 4.513 on one core for a ms. :) Scored 509 SC and 5040 MC on R20. Holds 4.335 to 4.360 in games now as well. I have to say, this is the best $300 cpu I've bought in years! Even with the teething issues it's been a lot of fun tweaking. I don't believe I'll try pushing it any further though till I finish my external wall mount custom loop. Should have it finished by next week. :) Would be nice to see it consistently hit 4.5 on the other cores. Even if it is just during background tasks. Should have no issue holding 4.4 in games then. Guess we'll find out.

In case anyone want's to try my settings.

    1.0.0.3abb, latest chipset driver.

PBO Manual=PPT 124, TDC 75, EDC 115, Auto OC +175 Scalar x9. I have to adjust Package power limit to get PPT to move on my gigabyte board, it's in a different place than the XFR or PBO options for power limits. If I don't adjust both PBO and XFR to manual in both areas, for PPT, TDC, and EDC, it doesn't have any effect on my boost freq and will boost same as default roughly. All 3 are set just above what they max out, but for EDC, anything above 115 and performance and boosts tank back to normal.

Also to add, I tried all options for AutoOC from +25 to +200 with scalar x1-x10, the only 2 options that boost at all to 4.4 or above is +175 and +200. None of the other options with Scalar 1-10 have any effect on boosts. +175 was the option that seems to boost more regularly. +200 was not nearly as often. Ymmv

Hope this helps someone, I've spent a lot of hours to make this thing even hit the advertised clocks. Seeing it go higher is even sweeter. Good Luck!

Yeah I just tried those only 3700x and an ASRock B450m pro 4 and I still get negative results :/ looks like my board is holding it back.

Still get a respectable 500 single and 4981 multi.

All I got was that Silicon Lottery found that all of the 3800X's could hit 4.2 Allcore at 1.275V (and that 4.3 could be the allcore max).
I went 3800X for the extra TDP headroom, just to be sure.

edit : I had my old i5 3570K at 4.2 allcore. Do I leave it at that, or leave it at stock, boosting to 4.5+ single core (tweaking here and there, obviously) ?
I already hit 4.2 allcore boost anyway, at stock voltages.

@gerardfraser Looks like I need more RAM, 32GB in total to be precise. Buying a new G.skill kit is very expensive and I want to make sure I choose the best solution now since I'm not upgrading for a couple of years.

    Choice 1 : Buy another 16GB G.skill kit (3200MHz CL14) ~€240 (4x8GB)
    Choice 2 : Buy cheap 32GB Corsair memory (3200MHz CL16) ~€200 (2x16GB)
    Choice 3 : Buy a faster 32GB G-skill kit but with worse latency (3600MHz CL18) (2x16GB)

I've heard that having more than two sticks is not optimal, is that true? And I know I should OC them to 3600MHz but I got errors last time so not sure how to tackle this.

Btw I noticed that Ryzen balanced power plan has CPU minimum state set to 99 % by default, which explains not downclocking very much when idle.

Haven't tried it yet but setting this manually to 50 % for example should allow downclocking further.

For reference Windows balanced has minimum state of 5 % by default.

Awesome Pics are per usual ,HH may get jealous with the hardware pics.

I would not be the best person to ask but I will try to help.

I would see how much you could get for your G.Skill 16GB 3200MHz CL14 kit and go with a 2x16 Kit.

Now here is the question and it sounds like your not comfortable overclocking your ram at all ,so you are looking for cheap and easy at reasonable price without overclocking.
You have to be doing other stuff than just gaming if you want 32GB Ram,is single rank or dual rank a concern.

Another thing you have to remember you only have a MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon motherboard which was and not as good as X570/B550 later for the memory controller but still can run 4200Mhz no problem if your board is like my MSI X470 motherboard + CPU.
    • Supports DDR4-3466(OC) Memory
Let me know or share a little more information but as of a suggestion right now (3600MHz CL18) (2x16GB) and overclock to CL14 3600Mhz or CL16 3800Mhz if your CPU can do 1900Mhz on infinity fabric without crashing at that speed.I mean Infinity crashing games not ram errors.

I looked on newegg Canada there was this set for €180 that would work fine.Check out Sweden prices on this kit.

If you use Ryzen Master to monitor the CPU you will notice most of the cores go to sleep.
So having minimum clock set to 99% means nothing.

    This is interesting ......
Spent some time yesterday helping out a friend with his 3700X build.
With Bios 0002 / 2703 and latest chipset drivers it wouldn't boost above 4280 MHz on single core.
After flashing BIOS 2501 (C7H) and using the chipset drivers from 7/7 (v1.07.07.0725)
it now happily boost to 4397 MHz on a single core. All core is the same.
I don't get it. I could understand if the all core boost were lower, but single core ?

Thanks mate! Pretty happy with the build considering I rarely ever build PC's (was coming from an ancient but serviceable 4770K lol).

Not sure if I should get some custom cable extensions lol.
