    Tomorrow i'm going to play a little bit with my 5800x on the ASRock B550 Steel Legend Micro. I need to put back together the water loop for this set up - 5800x / B550 Steel Legend Micro / 2x16gb ddr4 3800Mhz Cas 14 Samsung B-Die / rtx 3090 h20. Will post any new findings after i update to the newest Bios.

    In context:
    Gamers have been lamenting about the high prices of graphics cards for what seems like forever.
    We all got excited when crypto mining became obsolete, just knowing that we were finally going to see prices come down, but for the most part, they haven't.
    The latest GPUs are still out of reach for the average consumer, and even older cards are holding their value.

    If you haven't noticed, the tech industry is suffering a significant contraction. Executives are panicking as they try to pinch pennies with layoffs and other measures to keep investors happy.
    One of those "other measures" is restraining product supply.

    In a Tuesday evening investors call, AMD CEO Lisa Su tried to calm investor anxiety by pointing out that the company has been, and will continue to, undership GPUs to
    "balance supply and demand."
    Of course, that's just another way of saying, "we're going to keep prices inflated by lowering our output."

    "We undershipped in Q3, we undershipped in Q4,"
    Su told investors.
    "We will undership, to a lesser extent, in Q1 [sic].

    I managed to use all the settings from the video except pushing infinity fabric to 2033, it was extremely unstable. So here's my current settings and benchmark. cachemem6.png ZenTimings_Screenshot_mod2.png

    I cant get anything about 3200 to work with 4x8gb kit. Its 32GB 3600 CL18 kit. Sucks. 3400 half the time is stable.
    Also no setting to change from CL18 to CL16 or anything. Im guessing I have to manually enter everything on my board. Just standard XMP in DOCP on my ASUS TUF X570-PLUS WIFI

    You need to select the right profile in bios. Should also try to keep 1:1 between mem clock and infinity fabric. Well if the memory runs at 3600 as it should, then the 1800 is correct.

    Did you input all those impedances and voltages, or are they set on auto?
    What die are those chips? What is your VDimm?

    Try a couple of things, but one at a time.
    Change CLDO VDDP to 950
    Vsoc to 1.1
    ClkDrvStr to 40 or 60

    Whatever you do, with 4 dimms, start with a clean UEFI state.
    My biggest mistake, was trying to use my 2 dim save, as a basis to 4 dimms. This screwed up memory training.
    Load default values, restart and then go into the UEFI and start from scratch.

    I have the correct profile. Its 3600 CL18. But the system wont boot of it does it is insanely unstable at 3600. Currently is running at 3200.


    They are set to auto using DOCP(XMP) profile. Not sure on Vdimm. Zen timings says N/A. They are single rank Nanya.
    I will definetely try those settings. Board is a pain in the ass if settings dont work to get it too reboot and enter bios. No reset switch on it.

    When I got this ram, I did a reset to default settings, reboot, then enter bios and spent 4 hours just trying to get the system above 3200. Im not a ram expert.

    If it's on auto, then vdimm it's probably at 1.35v. Try setting it to 1.4v

    Single rank dimms is good for setups with 4 dimms. Nanya is low end ram, so don't expect much from it. Still, 3600 should be achievable.

    Thank you. Ive tried just 2 sticks, it will do 3600 no problem. They do 3600 in my thread ripper with all 4 sticks. But this board has been a struggle with 4 sticks aat 3600.

    When the 2 sticks worked did you replace them with the other 2 sticks to make sure nothing wrong with 1 of the sticks? If memory works alright all around except with 4, could just be board that can't handle it then. Only other thing I can think of is bios update, if any.

    On newest bios. All 4 sticks work in any combo as long as I only use 2 at 3600.

    Just tried what he had offered. Got this. And now cant get into bios. It just locks up upon boot. Worst mistake buying this ram. 0208231828~2.jpg

    Is your specific set of memory on your motherboards compatibility list?

    You will find this on the support page for your specific motherboard.

    Just looked. Sadly no it isnt. And I seen kits almost 100% identical specs with 4x8GB and they are on the list from Corsair. I just should have bought a 2x16gb kit and found dummy LED for the other 2 slots.

    If I try to boot with B1 and A1 dims, it fails with XMP.
    If i use b2 and a2 and it works flawless 3600 C18 XMP.

    Just looked at the boards manual. Cant find anything that states b1 and a1 speed limited. My X370 Killer SLI A/C was like that. B1 and A1 were limited to 2400 but B2 and A2 currently worked with 2x16Gb 3600.

    If I put any ram stick in slot 1, it will try a boot cycle and reset bios and then I can get in.

    Damn...

    As a rule of thumb for the future, more often than not picking what is officially listed as supported "tested" on a given motherboard is what you should be looking at when selecting memory for that particular motherboard, it basically just means the manufacturer has tested the memory and it functions at it's stated specs on that motherboard model.

    its probably the bios, i have a similar b550 tuf board and even with an apu , nothing above 3533 will post if all slots are populated, and all of the sticks are capable of >4266mt/s, ive heard that changing the cad bus timings(not drive strength) can fix problems with 4 dimm setups ,but I've yet to mess around with it.


    there is a 4266 of memory which is 4x8gb on the qvl, so i dont think its a design issue.
