Horrible fps in all games. No driver/bios/os/tweak fixes. An all round horrible card and a horrible experience. I returned it. It had the origional heatsink with the monster on it and ran about 39C idle and up to 50C under load.

(Yes I had the extra power connecter plugged in, yes I tried every chipset driver, forceware driver, video driver, motherboard driver, agp driver known to man. Yes I tried fresh installs of XP and different service packs. Yes I have a 430watt powersupply that supports 20+ amps on the 12 volt rail. Yes this card sucks ass.)

(Overclocking my cpu from 2.26 to 2.8 GHz had no increase in GPU performance.)

Sorry about your experience... My Athlon 64 3000+ should get here tonight, so I'll report back in a couple of days. I hope I'll see an improvement in games. From my experience, overclocking my CPU to 2.1 (best OC with this P4) and the 6600GT to 570/1100 showed a nice improvement in fps, although I don't have numbers. Unfortunately, my system becomes unstable when overclocked, I think the issue is with the PSU being only 300W.

pefect. i got mem up to 1.13 core to 575. I cant believe I can play tribes vengeance, which is based on unreal 2 engine, but heavily moded with ps 2.0, @ 1280x1024 high detail, 2xaa 16xaf. doom 3 1280x1024 high detail 2xaa 8xaf. riddick 1154x864 2xaa 8xaff. best $211 I ever spent!

people who say terrible performance: i wonder what settings your playing your games at? you cant expect highest quality with a budget card. I used to play at 1600x1200 with my x800 XT and 6800 GT but now i gotta play 1024x768 or 1280x1024 with less than max quality settings.

Speaking of Tribes Vengeance, I downloaded the demo and all I get a black screen when trying to start it. All my other games work flawlessly and I'm using the latest official 6693's. Any insights?

its a demo would be my first answer

my second would be most demos are made with a certain driver set in mind so maybe using the one your on won't work but using a previous set will

I really love my 6600 GT!!!

I upgraded from a 5200 FX so it's obbius that I'm quite happy with it. The only problem I'm having is that I want to overclock it, but I cant get the Temp sensor working, so I'm trying to solve this...if anybody knows haw to do so (CoolBits and RivaTuner hadn't work)

Well my last card was a 5200 also, so I know what you mean.

The temperature reader in the nVidia CP doesnt work?

I have the same problem - i hear that some brands have the temp sensor disabled in the BIOS. :(
As to the why - who knows!?

    Yo Kooga,
thing is , the Vga core stays at 299 mhz while at 2D mode mweaning while at desktop and stuff, but while playing 3D games, it goes higher till 450 or 500 Mhz, so basically, what u could do is, download rivatuner > first get the graphic display device info and prolly u`ll find its 299 Mhz.Exit rivatuner, Aight?
But then, go and play a "3D" game, that u can minimize in-game (I know Max Payne 2`s good or painkiller), then "quickly" go and start Rivatuner again, and see the graphics and display device info again, u`ll find 500 or 450 Mhz, cool?
post back if working. BTW, is yer PSU conncected to yer video card ??

or you can just download coolbits from the download section here at guru3d and overclock through your nV control panel

Ladies with AGP: why on earth bother with the 66 at all? Get a 68GT 128 for a little more and you'll kick the 66's arse all over the place. I wanted to get the 66GT for 170 Euro's but luckily couldn't find an AGP one here so I had to settle with the 68GT 128. Only ASUS do the card and before any retards start screaming like a girl: but why bother it's only got 8 pipes! IT'S GOT 16 AS IT'S A GT, just with 128 MB, not the 256 DDR3 version, that's why it's 150 Euro's less. All I hope is that everything goes well and I can get it this weekend, if not I will be mightily disappointed because I have had enough of this damned 57LE of mine.

Though I have to say that according to what you guys say my 5700LE performs just as well as some of you guys with your 66's. That has got to be hardware related because I have clocked my LE to the max and I get those scores out of HL2 and Doom 3... BAD BAD CARD...

How much did the 6800GT set you back??
    Very nice - but the 6600GT will murder a 5700LE - mine is faster than a 9800Pro/5950Ultra.....
Even beats the 9800XT most of the time - not bad for a sub £150 card in my opinion

Yours beats a 9800 pro/5950 ultra, and you are getting only 3/4 the performance that my PCIe is with an A64.

If that doesnt prove that the 6600 GT rocks then what does?
