Hey armarios, are you worried about getting 50C when idle and 85 at load? I would be too, but u have to see mines. No, really I am worried about my temps I get 66 when Idle and 99C on load!!! I don't know what to do to stop this, I've heard that some cards have faulty contact between the chip and the hsf, and I think thats what have been dropping my scores in all benchmarks

You should eighter apply some good cooling paste (artic silver 5) or buy a new cooler. I think the cooling has been quite an issue for all geforce 6600gt's, maybe that's why some vendors disable the temp monitoring?

I just picked up a BFG 6600gt OC today and I love it. HL2 I was getting between 80 and 120 fps Doom ran so smoothly. It was an upgrade from my old fx5200 128meg and I am extremely happy with it. out of the box 500core and 1050 mem how can you beat it. I saw some post today where it beat out a 6800gt in one test so I will post it when I find it again. Once again couldn't be happier cost an arm and a leg here in Canada payed 350 for it but ell worth it. I'm going to run Aquamark and see what I get.

What drivers are you using. IF you have dual monitors or have hooked up the graphics card to a tv then try just one monitor. What is your clock speeds set at. What kind of MSI Motherboard is it. These are the things we need to know in oder to help you.

    My config:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 754
DFI LanParty NForce 3 250 MB
1 gig crucial pc 3200 ram
    200 gig eide hd
xfx 6600GT AGP video card Driver 71.21

CS:S Stress Test runs around 93 FPS
    Aquamark is just over 49000
I have 3DMark 03 and 05, but they don't give me a number, since they're the demo versions?

Gameplay wise, I get anywhere from 50-130 FPS in CS:S, depending on the level and location. 1280x1024 full detail no AA/AF

World of Warcraft, around 35-40 outdoors and 70ish indoors. 1280x1024 full detail, draw distance, etc. No AA, I think I have AF turned up in game.

Doom 3 (Demo), just walking around I get around 60. I think it drops to the mid 40's when enemies are around, but it's been awhile so I don't remember. 1280x1024, high detail, no AA/AF

Far Cry (this one bugs me), as I seem to get around 35 FPS outdoors. Recalling some of the tests I saw, I should be getting framerates in the 60's or 70's. 1280x1024, all detail up, low AA/no AF.

Knights of the Old Republic - For a game from 2003 (2004?) it seems like I should be getting better framerates. Average around 30 FPS. 1280x1024, full detail, no AA/AF, no v-sync

Speaking of v-sync, last couple times I tried turning it on, my PC locked up. It worked earlier. Might have been the driver I downloaded.

Some of these framerates seem fine, others seem like they should be faster (especially Far Cry and KOTOR). My idle temps are pretty high, 55C, and it will usually be 65-70C immediately after playing a game for awhile. I did just order an aftermarket cooler that someone gave a good recommendation to. I think it was over at nzone. All copper, not the Zalman one. I'm hoping that will drop my temps by a good amount, and give me a few more frames. Maybe then I can overclock too. I hear the Lanparty board is good for that.

Am I getting acceptable results on these items?

We have almost the same setup, and I get very similar results in FarCry... I didn't try with 71.xx drivers though...

Your setup looks fine, but your temps are higher than mine...

FWIW, I tried the 71.22 drivers (came with my card) and went back to the 66.93s. The "white grass" in Aztec (CS:S) and other graphic "uglies" is not worth 3-4 FPS.

Hello, could somebody help me which 6600GT should I buy?:
Which is the best card of them : Leadtek 6600GT TDH
    Gigabyte 6600GT GVN66 T128 D
    MSI 6600GT 128 VTD VIVO
These cards are all equipped with AGP 8X
I 'd prefer the MSI but its too expensive....
    Help,

I've been very happy with my XFX 6600GT AGP which I purchased several months ago. I preordered it from ******** and got it right away. Great price, performance, and it overclocks like a mother! With a STASIS IceStorm NV43AGP heatsink on it, I'm running at 610/1215 with no stability issues. Idle temps are 35C/ Load 57C :)

I know some will say that they have had no problem with their XFX 6600GT but I would recomend against the XFX. Myself and many others on this fourm have had serious problems with the XFX. I have a new computer now but some time ago I purchased a XFX 6600gt and had major problems. Tried many different drivers but no improvement. It benched good but suffered from a lot of chop and skip during game play. Tried everything and never did get it working right. Finnaly I returned it in frustration.

I have heard nothing but great things about the Leadtek so I would go with that one. Good luck! :p

And what do you think about MSI and Gigabyte are they worth buying it? I had a Leadtek some years ago but It wasn't a good card at all...thats why I would choose between MSI and Gigabyte.
    Has Gigabyte good graphics cards?

MSI and Gigabyte would also be a good choice, although I did read a few reviews on line that stated that the fan on the Gigabyte card was a little too loud.

Go to a web site called 8Dimensional and you will find tons of in depth reviews on just about every type and brand name card you can imagine. Read lots of reviews first before you buy because some companys do use cheaper components than others and you don't wan't to get stuck with a crap card.
