Haven't been able to buy fireworks in years, damn things are expensive. A few years ago I bought $400 worth of mortar shells, what a fantastic night. I woke up the next day reeking of gunpowder.
4th of July is better as a Friday. Unfortunately, fireworks are basically banned around here because of the area's similarity to a tinderbox.

This thread has fared better than the others. Everytime someone from another country that isnt USA posts a "Its [something] day on my country!" it has 3 pages of people saying "NOBODY CARES. WHY POST THIS HERE?" And god forbid if they dont write in "good" english.

Notice how this thread has maybe one troll and one or two good natured ribbings? It is the internet. This forum is owned by a dutch man and has a much more international audience than many sites, so yes, you'll get people more critical than you might on other sites. Speaking as an American, I have seen very little true anti-Americanism, and those people have pretty much been banned by now.

Not that one. It's a day when people are going home (to reserve) from their military service. Damn, it's been 4 years when I left (had one refresher training [a bit under two weeks] or whatever it was about a year ago).
