    AMD delivered good CentralPU, intel countered with FridgePU.

    I mean it's imrpessive that they didn't need LN2 cooling for that CPU, but this is nowhere near what the average PC user will be able to use. So it's still not the CPU with 28 cores and 5GHz that enthusiasts will have at home.

    Intel just need to show something so they create that smoke screen
    From some time rumor was that AMD will show 24 core Threadripper so they react with re-branded 28 core Xeon. They push trough it 800W of power and they cal it victory over AMD.
    Many take that bate at we all read about 28 core CPU at 5GHz, but no one mention that You will need small power plant just to run it, and I am 99,9% sure that we will never see that CPU available to buy.
    AMD again winn this battle 32 cores probably at ~4,2GHz and ~300W, at 1/2 price of what ever Intel will offer

    they're all about image. It doesn't matter what gargantuan cooling solution they used, 'papers' have written one thing: intel's desktop CPU has 28 cores at 5 GHz.
    Pathetic.

    That's not happening unless it's on 7nm. I can do you power consumption under full load graph at different clocks today. But following should be enough to extrapolate 8C/16T:
    4.2GHz all cores => ~180W
    3.9GHz all cores => ~125W
    3.8GHz all cores => ~105W
    3.6GHz all cores => ~80W

    I say that 32C/64T can fit into 300W @3.4GHz and stock 250W limit will put it in 3.0~3.2GHz range once all cores are fully utilized.
    Basically, above 4GHz this 12nm+ lithography becomes very inefficient. Zen is good uArch, but it is being held back by manufacturing process. If AMD licensed intel's production capacity, even 1st gen Zen would prove to be King of the Hill.

    In fact it does looks like one of those Hailea 800 watts cooling chiller or similar , maybe even heavily moded for more than 800w , chillers can go down to -21c subsero with the right mixture of gases on the compressor. I

    A good reminder of why I've decided to avoid Intel when I can.
    If that's not false marketing I don't know what is.

    I hope intel will start using solder instead of yogurt now :/

    I think its possible they could have an all core boost to 3.4,

    Threadripper 2 continues the tradition of using highly binned dies, which will skew the average voltage curve down lower compaired to desktop ryzen
    dunno how much though.

    Any true Intel fan with blue underpants would gladly run that fridge thing next to their PC.

    As with MOST of Intels releases, they are all "paper launches" since way back with the Pentium and the "mythical" 1ghz race, to which they lost by several months.

    I know that using this kind of cooling on a consumer PC is ridiculous, stupid and maybe it should be forbidden by law... But for some silly reason i love the fact that there´s a CPU that requires such an heavy duty cooling, it´s so badass and crazy! I love it!...

    Good thing i can´t afford something like this otherwise i could make something really stupid...

    I think they would have loved to use LN2, but it would have been way too obvious. They needed a way to make people think it was normal cooling.

    As far as I'm concerned, their demonstration is about as valid as a LN2 test. Nobody is going to use such a setup for their PCs so the results are irrelevant.

    I just find it funny how they felt the need to glam it up, making it seem far better than it actually is. The whole thing reeks of desperation. The fact that AMD used an air cooler for TR2 only highlights the absurdity even more. As far as the latest Corean War goes, I'd say the green team is winning.
