So excited this one is finally revealed. Been sitting back for three years, watching this amazing team make this. It's almost surreal to see screenshots and a trailer out there for people to look at. Really hope everyone likes what they see.
I'm always in for RTS games, the first genre I learned to love with Dune2 and Age of Empires. But no SP campaign?
Thanks for confirming, wasn't sure since they mention "2 15-mission campaigns" but in the end it's not listed as a feature.
So awesome to see people so excited for the game. It's been a passion project for Fred (CEO of 3DR) for years, and put together a team that love the RTS genre and have poured everything they have into this. We've barely scratched the surface so far, and have so much more to show on Tempest Rising in the future. But, for those who may have noticed the "GDF" symbol in the game... TR is set in the same universe as Ion Fury/Bombshell. But, 100 years before Ion Fury.
A Playable Preview for Tempest Rising is available on Steam. Just go to the Steam page for Tempest, and click "Request Access". You should receive an email almost instantly granting you access to the Playable Preview. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1486920/Tempest_Rising/ This will be available until August 28th. The game is still very much a "Work in Progress", but, this is the first time outside of a convention that people have had access to play it.
It is nice, very CNC inspired, which is great. Need to see more, but it is a welcome sight to the classic CNC games(which i STILL play).
Didn’t have to request access at all for this as there was a demo for the game in the Store. I thought the demo was good; definitely heavily inspired by Command & Conquer, not that that is a bad thing, but at the same time it doesn’t seem to be adding anything new to the genre either. It looks good and plays well enough but is missing some basic features such as subtitles. Also, the demo doesn’t have a save option. Hopefully, both of these will be in the final game.
The demo is cool. It's the first campaign mission for both factions. The game plays like a modern Command and Conquer, which isn't a bad thing. I didn't want it to try and reinvent the wheel, seeing how there aren't many RTS games these days in the first place. The path finding is wonky at times, so I hope that it will get ironed out. Also, the briefings eat a lot of resources. RTSS reported ~95% usage of my RTX 3070 at 1080p/60fps (maxed out, however), so I'd expect some optimising is in order. The main game is fine in this regard, though.
This^^ The game really feels like a modern C&C without any /difference/novelty. Not a bad thing but they really should have added a personal touch to improve the game and to shake that feeling of a cheap copy off of C&C...
Yeah, we took the Playable Preview down and replaced it with the public demo. Thanks for playing, really glad you enjoyed it. I can say, features like subtitles... are coming, just not in the game yet. Save systems will of course be in the full game.
