Things were different in the 1950's. Remember what happened to Betty White when she had a Black Tap Dance dancer, Arthur Duncan on her Betty White show in 1954. “all through the South there was this whole ruckus, they were going to take the show off the air if we didn’t get rid of Arthur because he was Black.” People with a different complexion being ugly could have been the only way for Tolkien to get published. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/betty-white-arthur-duncan/
I read the article. Great read. The history and current Hollywood has been tough! I now gotta checkout Andor, The latest episodes of House of Dragon, Cyberpunk and others. It's hard to keep up. I also sent you a P.M. On a side note, I'm on my way to Greenfield Village.
It's not even a shock... Picard's an iconic character and a milestone in TV history. Burnam will just be forgotten. I'm not surprised they offer a generic, meaningless figure for 1$. But you can still buy the collectible Locutus, that deserves a "mild shock"
It was of course a sarcastic mild shock.. haha. On second look at the packaging, made me wonder if I can find a Darth Vader figurine that has a choking hazard warning on the box....... because of reasons.. lol.
What a total waste of money those figurines looks terrible. Glad to see Michael Burnham proportions were respected tho.
Ya see dominic west as prince charles in the crown? Such a freaking bad casting imo... he looks more like roger moores james bond than prince charles...
He does, james bond material for sure... but he doesn't in any possible way look like prince charles. Totally ruins the immersion for me.
If Netflix doesn't pick the only actor that can play the character they will never be forgiven. https://twitter.com/DaveBautista/status/1590837419791695872
Agree ! The first 2 episodes are the worst ones (and i think alot of people will skip the series due to that), but after that, the series really gets going ! Im at an overall 9/10 so far
Absolutely, the start is a bit slow, but I guess it achieves its emotional goals. Loving the show, probably the show I am most looking forward to watch every week.
Just watched the first episode of Tulsa King with Sylvester Stallone, there's nothing new about the premise but I enjoyed it and will definitely watch the next episode.
I'm trying to watch "The Wire" but it's hard for me to understand what people are saying most of the time, what a cast ! There's so many good actors in this show! Watched most of "Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities" (Netflix) and it was good, some of those episode were even excellent. Tried "Echos" (Netflix), but I not hooked at all after 2-3 episodes, dropped it. "Inside Man" (Netflix) Absolutely love the atmosphere, the dialogues and characters but it's very slow sadly, what's 4 episodes could probably have been 2. "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" (Netflix) watched half of it and got bored, story and characters aren't bringing anything new here, not very interesting for me, the visual aspect was the most interesting for me as I usually don't watch any anim/japan style. In this register I am a bit old school in my knowledge (Akira/Ghost in the Shell/Princess Mononoke/...). That's nowhere near Arcane which was absolutely fantastic to me. "The Peripheral" on amazon prime is probably the most interesting recent show I am watching after Andor of course
Pffft Nothing new. I do have 3 original Empire Strikes Back Action Figures from 1980. Luke in his Hoth gear. Han in his Hoth gear. Lando in his Bespin attire. I get tons of offers for all three.
I watched it years ago. Will always be the best TV series IMO. But when I eventually get to watch it for the second time, it will be with subtitles since most of the time proper grammar is not used and it's hard to construe what is being said. So I suggest using subtitles.
Anyone seen the new Australian version of Kitchen Nightmares ? I loved the Gordon Ramsay episodes and I have to say that Colin Fassnidge is a fine replacement. All in all, seen 6 episodes and I've enjoyed them. Currently they are available on youtube with all the swearing necessary for a good Kitchen Nightmares show.
