Let me start of by saying this, I have literally NO knowledge when it comes to tablets. Seriously, none. So I apologize for any stupid questions I may ask in advance >>; Well, a relative of mine is looking to get a tablet, these are his requirements(Budget is 600$ btw): Optimized for office work(Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel) Should be able to connect to a projector Should have wireless, bluetooth, and USB ports Should have an SSD with a minimum of 32GB Battery should be replaceable (Optional) Camera Is there any particular tablet you can recommend?
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 ticks all those boxes, I have one and they are pretty awesome. Apps work great and there are tons to choose from. It has expandable memory up to 64GB MicroSD card. Come with the amazing S-Pen for better writing and drawing. An excellent camera and some beefy gaming capabilities too.
I have the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and I love it. 10.1 felt too big for reading in bed and carrying about and 7" was well too small for viewing videos and browsing internet. The GT-7310 is around 400g too and about 9mm thick, has decent screen real-estate and, if you can get ICS on it, it is super smooth. However, if you want something bigger, the Note 10.1 or the latest Asus Transformer are top-end beauty. Also, if you ever upgrade to a SGS3 phone, you can trade your old phone in to Samsung and get a big discount of the Note 10.1. What you asked for is not a tablet, it's more for ultrabooks. If Microsoft Office is imperative, get the Microsoft Surface RT. If it isn't, any Android tablet will do. I personally have OfficeSuite Pro, does basically everything Microsoft Office does on Android. Usually I use Google Drive but for offline editing, I use that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobisystems.editor.office_registered deltatux
does the galaxy note 10.1 have a replaceable battery? i thought it was non replaceable? for the OP, i was thinking an asus transformer (either pad 300 or infinity 700) seems to tick most of the boxes. whilst battery not replaceable, it does have a keyboard dock which extends the battery life. it satisfies most of the requirements you have. alternatively, if he's just after a randomly interesting device, theres the samsung galaxy beam, lol. whilst not a tablet, it does have a built in projector, and you can always just hook up a keyboard for productivity, although the small screen size would be quite restricting, lol.
The number of tablets that have replaceable batteries (well, easily accessible) is....erm I know of only the Thrive AT-100. It's an old model that's been superseded many times now. I think if someone wants to use MS Office a lot they're better off waiting to see what the Win 8 tabs are available.
I would actually get a touchscreen laptop with windows 8 that can fold and become as a tablet; they will be out in a couple months.
