Hi everyone, first time post, long time SweetFX user. Noticed a huge performance increase in this release, thank you Ceejay!

    Welcome to the forum!

I optimized a lot of stuff for this release, mostly minor things but they add up and SMAA got a nice performance boost.

I did a performance test yesterday.

On the demo I used :
SweetFX 1.5.1 using InjectSMAA with SMAA enabled = 465 fps
SweetFX 1.4 using InjectSMAA with SMAA enabled = 435 fps
Boulotaurs (built on SweetFX 1.4) with SMAA enabled = 425 fps

I believe this makes SMAA in SweetFX the fastest AA you can apply to games today.

Is it possible to do to 2x or 4x FXAA?

Is it possible to do to 2x or 4x FXAA?

also, I can't get sweetFX FXAA to apply within Metro 2033. Other settings apply, but not the AA settings.

It's always been pretty light performance-wise, but I was really surprised at the difference between the 1.4 and 1.5 releases.

Has anyone heard from Boulotaur yet? It'd be awesome to get some of the shaders and SMAA compatible for more games, I've yet to of been able to get his injector working with Bioshock: Infinite.

If you can code FXAA to do such levels then yes, otherwise no. The point of SweetFX is to be compatible with most (if not all) DX9, 10 and 11 (and hopefully soon OpenGL) games and without big performance hit.

Gotta thank K-Putt for putting in the effort to combine Boulotaur's injector with Ceejay's shaders.

    Working like a charm in BF4 =)

CeeJay, I have a question. As far as I know OpenGL uses GLSL shaders. And currently SweetFX only includes HLSL shaders. When eFX has been released, which method will you use? Will you convert each HLSL shader to GLSL? Or will you use a OpenGL to D3D wrapper method?

Final Fantasy 14 crashes with 1.5 (full version SweetFX 1_5-23364 ?)

    Code:
    full path: I:\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\
    redirecting CreateDevice
    initialising shader environment
    initialising shader environment
The launcher is in a separate folder from the game (instead of \game its \boot), not sure if that matters. Also i remember when Boulotaur got it working he mentioned the game using SwapChain?

i use boulotaur injector for ARR
    smaa degrade the game so i use fxaa which use more power ;;
    and hdr eat some fps too ;;

I use FXAA too in ARR. The game is too noisy by default. Lots of small foliage with no alpha AA.

I intend to convert each shader to glsl.
Its the only way to ensure maximum performance.

There is no such thing as fxaa 2x or 4x. And smaa 2x and 4x cannot be applied with an injector because those modes require the game to be written to support them.
Few games have this but those modes look great in the games that do support them. Try Crysis 3 - it supports them.

    Hey everyone,

I just upgraded to Windows 8.1 and now SweetFX doesn't seem to work anymore :(

I am currently trying with the Battlefield 4 BETA and on Windows 8 it worked like a charm... After upgrade to 8.1 I can't even start the game anymore, as it throws an error message that there is something wrong with dxgi.dll.

If I delete it from the gamefolder (as it is SweetFX file) then I can start the game again. I can also start it using the 32bit version... But with the 64bit version from Boulotaur2024 it doesn't work and throws an error.

Is this a known problem and is there a fix for it? Would be a shame to play Battlefield without SweetFX :(

Yes, it is a known problem. You CANNOT use SweetFX in Win 8.1

You'll just have to wait till the dxgi is updated for 8.1

If you're that desperate, you'll have to use radeonpro, that works in 8.1

Omg, how long will update take?

I just downloaded radeonpro but it doesn't work either. I set SweetFX path to Battlefield 4 root folder and then imported the settings.txt for a new profile for bf4.exe
This doesn't work though and also creates error for dxgi.dll. When I delete dxgi.dll game starts but no SweetFX settings.

Is there a tutorial for radeonpro somewhere?

download the 32 bit redistributables on MS.
its a 32 bit game you still need 32 bit runtimes

Times like these where I know people don't read the FAQ first. :p

Are you using the latest version of radeonpro? Because you are using correctly.

Also RadeonPro is still only updated for SweetFX 1.4 and I don't know that you can use 1.5.1 with it.
