i currently have an asus gtx680..I recently realized with the new amd drivers the 7970ghz is over all a faster performer than the gtx680...and now i have an opportunity to purchase a 7970GHZ edition for $250 and I already have a buyer interested in my 680 for $350. So i would gain $100 from this swap. Now my question is, is it worth doing the swap considering the higher performance(more vram too) and an additional $100 dollars in my pocket. :infinity:

Well AMD's drivers have been super solid and keep getting better and better. I love my 7950, and one point I had a 670 and a 680(both had horrible stuttering problems

    Went from a quadfire 7950 to a Tri-Sli 680s.

If you are only going with a single card and a single screen... go AMD!

Multi-GPU and Multi-Screen... Nvidia is much much better.

No it's a bad idea, you should keep the 680.

7970ghz isn't much better than 680, they quite on par that depends which game. some benefit AMD some nvidia, some they equal +-/

7970GHZ and GTX680 are both excellent card, no need to swap.

If they're both equal now (they are not), or are still going to be equal in the future (they will not be), and he gets an extra gig of VRAM (regardless of memory bandwidth, which is also much higher), and he gets extra cash in the process, is there no need to swap?

mainly up to him. if he gain 100$ and he need that Vram and GPGPU performance, make the swap. i misread and though he have to pay 100$ more.

Offtopic i had a great 6 years with ATI 2006-2012, using x1950pro to HD5850, they had best card per money. we can say the same now, gtx 680 should cost as much as 7970ghz, it amazing what AMD did with drivers... still the GTX680 is a top performer like 7970ghz... so it all up to u.

Only reason you shouldnt swap, is if you have the hots for physx... otherwise, it sounds like free 100 bucks, for a card that is at least on par :)
