    Don't use Furmark...

Even the ?former? resident bencher/quad SLI-er Bodar used to say Furmark was not an accurate measurement/card destroyer.

I have found that running the GPU bench in OCCT with error checking on with max settings for 20 minutes with VSYNC ON.

Will tell you if your card is stable.

Even when my card was 100% fine in games ( absolutely no artifacts or glitches ) in games at 850/1700/4200 OCCT at those settings would report hundreds of errors, I disregarded it and I later noticed artifacts in games...

Now at my current clocks I get no artifacts and no errors in OCCT...so it knows what your eyes can't see and with vsync on ( you have to force it in the global settings in NVCP while you run it ) it won't burn your card out.

OCCT and furmark can push your card 20C higher than any game at 99% GPU usage.

Even crysis 1 which is brutal on card memory is 75C on my card....OCCT and furmark push it over 90.......

So if you run those programs, although they are accurate for errors, they give unnatural temps, and given that most people always run vsync in games you should do it in those programs too to test for stability rather than a vsync off + 20c test which is not representative of real world tests.

ATITool, it's simply the best. It's light, it actually scans for artifacts and it will tell you in 30mins whether you have a stable gpu overclock.

So what would it show in case of a bad overclock?

Like he said above, the program will crash, freeze, or cause a black screen, so I'm assuming he doesn't sit there the whole time ;p

For me the Heaven showed problems instantly(black blocks, artefacts all over the place). RMA the card and now both cards work great.

where did I mention 2.5 hours? and the artifacts and other stuff I mentioned would probably happen very quickly with unstable oc settings

I tried OCCT once. I let it run for half an hour and got nothing but I would immediately see artifacts in 3Dmark Vantage. And forget about a Heaven run. Never did run it again after that.

actually for me Crysis 2 stresses my Card pretty hard same with my 6990m and probably you will kill me World of Warcraft maxed out with DX11 can be pretty demanding too at least i had to raise my v-core on my 580 one step more to be completely stable in DX11
