I wish they would follow a more realistic art style, like the one from SSF2 instead of continuing with the super buffed one of the last 2 games... As for the game it looks good but it seems to be another minor improvement, they really need to bring something new to the game because it´s always the same stuff with some small changes. Also, whey do they hate Ken so much that they are making him look worse in each instalment...
I get the desire to keep going with 'realism' and 3D of course. But I wanted to see a return to fluid 2D animations for a new Street Fighter game. Something like Third Strike, still 2D, but with animations fluid enough to make Disney animators look amateur. Some people discussed this before and supposedly it would be too expensive to make. Even though they did it back then with Third Strike, and budgets for games (especially fighting games) back then were much smaller; so no I don't get it but whatever. The same with Mortal Kombat. Now that we've had the hyper-realism approach with MK11 I wish we'd see MK going back to 2D, but of course with very good animations and high resolution, modern assets. Yeah, but of course if they did that on "next gen" it'd be some sort of an insult, right? It has to be hyper realistic, characters need to have muscle physics now and all imaginable facial expressions while beating each others. The only thing Street Fighter needs now are Finishers and we're set. I'm glad we do still have fighting games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive. Now, granted, those are 3D technically (3D characters and stages) but they have a very unique visual style, especially GGS which basically looks almost 2D. Then again, I'm a 90s fighting games player. I'm mostly done with fighting games, generally-speaking. But I grew up with 2D fighting games so... I have my reasons. I mean I DO like the graphics of SF6 but nothing in 3D impresses me anymore (at least not like it used to). Frankly though, I wouldn't really care if a series like Tekken or SoulCalibur, or Dead or Alive kept going with the 3D realism styles. But for Street Fighter, specifically, this series has always been very stylized with weird character body proportions and fluid animations in 2D during the 90s and 2000s, and it doesn't translate well in 3D. It's like trying to take anime characters you've watched in 2D for 10+, 15+ years, and one day there's a 3D model of them and it makes you cringe because it just doesn't "fit".
Did you check out King of Combat? It's some relatively unknown Chinese early access copy/ripoff of several popular fighting games (mostly SNK, captures the style perfectly) with AWESOME and exceptionally smooth 2D graphics. Looks really good! Never got a chance to play it myself, though.
open world sf game that part of game look terrible but actual fighting that as not done in open world look nice. but i cant help but wonder how much Capcom is much micro transations will be be and how much of is locked behind those transactions. SF5 was just wtf in my eyes
I hope the game has a more serious tone and a story with FAR better writing. @CrunchyBiscuit The last hand drawn 2d fighter that surpassed my expectations was KOF 13. Such a beautiful game! I'm definitely checking out King Of Combat - Xuan dou zhi wang. Thanks for the tip! @Zenoth You sound like a retired fighter that needs to dust off the gloves, get back into the ring, put on the GI and return to the Dojo. C'mon back. Our strength is in the fight!
like the injustice 2 game over mortal combat better story. where is virtua fighter? every combat game but this ones been resurrected what the hell?
Do yourselves a favour and grab MAME and experience all the originals. Why support their business practices? Don't feed the beast.
Imho it also kinda fits and makes sense. The idea is supposed to be these people travel around the world seeking out fights right? So the idea of having open world imho makes sense. Would be cool to have cities all over the world, but thats kinda of a monumental task. So having a central city like we are seeing is about the next best thing. If Capcom plays this right, they could do a new city every couple of years for a new SF game. With new perks, new things to do etc etc. Make the city pretty enough and you don't even need "stages" the fight could just transition right into where-ever the fight is started.
Last year Virtua Fighter 5 received a refresh in graphics with the Dragon Engine. The latest is Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. It's like a new coat of paint on an old vehicle. They now have Tekken skins for Virtua Fighter characters. My how times have changed. I do remember the time when SEGA was unstoppable in the Arcades. Yu Suzuki and AM2 were untouchable for many years.
Guile steps on Ryu's chest and flash kicks him in the face. So disrespectful!!! Lol! Nonetheless my fighter Ryu is now a Grand Master and he looks too cool. Now if we could just get a certain Jeet Kune Do fighter back on the scene. We also need a Brazilian Shotokan student that has been missing since the 90's.
