Anyone going to download this and try it out? Personally I'm going to wait a bit, but it looks promising.

I'll give it a shot eventually, but I'm not in any rush tbh.

I'll try a virtual machine of it.

But ubuntu has steam anyway, so I doubt I would switch.

Nice, will give me something to mess about with over the weekend, I only have a few Linux games though.

Wonder why they recommend experienced Linux users though, does that mean the final version is still very far away?

They might be trying to scare people off from trying it who expect it to be like Windows, or plug and play, which it wont be. Also to stop the millions of emails from users asking for help.

Yeah probably, Windows previews tend to be pretty useable even early on.

Don't think that warning will stop people installing, complaining and emailing though.

    Doubt it, it's only software.

Even if they tried to restrict it it would be all over the internet within an hour.

I'll just leave this here so you guys won't be disappointed when you download it:

Basically, SteamOS is Big Picture mode. There are no standard OS features.

    Close to zero.

And i won't try SteamOS, nor buy a Steambox.

What's the point, exactly ? It's basically the Big Picture interface on a dumbed down version of Linux.

Plus, most of the games won't be supported natively and will require local s.treaming.

Absolutely pointless for someone who owns a decent computer, whatsoever. But again, i guess it's not the public the Steambox is aiming for.
