Anyway I bought Frozen synapse... I'll give some opinions when I play it. I like strategy games, but I hate RTS genre (especially starcraft, but I loved a lot CnC generals). You are left with not much strategy games.
Frozen Synapse is pretty cool. I bought it when it was in beta. Playing online definitely takes some thinking and planning ahead. But I like the fact that you can start a game and finish it whenever you want.
I've yet to see anything that tempts me in this sale so far; I've either already got it or I'm not interested in the game at all. Maybe tonight...
I thought it wasn't anywhere near as bad as reviews made out. It's scrappy but you can see what the developers were aiming for - an action RPG - even if the final results don't always match the ambition. It just feels like a game rushed out before it was finished. Definitely worth picking up on the cheap IMO.
@Alpha Protocol - Yeah I beat it when it first came out. Despite the bad reviews it turned out to be one of my favorite games. I found it had it own charms.
Another + 1 for Alpha Protocol. I don't think it deserved all the bad press it got, the game is enjoyable and has some very memorable moments. It's a shame the sequal was scrapped as I'd have loved to see more of that style of game.
alpha protocol is pretty crap at the very end, 3 bosses in a row, and I specialised in stealth and pistols, which is useless for bosses, so it was near impossible (retried a good 20 times)
Only Sniper:Ghost Warrior for me so far. I think that JC2 has been the best bang for the buck so far in this sale....I regret not gifting it to my son....I myself already own it. I would be all in on a good shooter if one comes along and is cheap
I bought just cause 2 and the valve pack for my step son. I already own jc2 myself and this is now the 4th copy of half life 2 I have access to. 3 of us can now play counter strike source together with bots if we please. Must say I did not own portal 2 and have been playing it non stop since buying that valve pack. What a game. I may be late to the party but easily my game of the year so far. Massive recomendation to anyone with even a passing interest in the 1st game or puzzle type games in general. Great gameplay and many laugh out loud moments. I may be a sad sack but i had to pause the game when the little robot ball thing was telling me to be careful when I had to jump down some hole. Honestly the script and voice acting for me is spot on. I am not sure how far I have to go but I dont want it to end.
Well, I ended up getting Monday Night Combat instead. Oh, & Hydrophobia & the Doom 3 pack. I always hated installing Doom 3 from all those cd's(yeah, I got the original boxed one, 5 discs...lol)
STALKER is a great series, some of the best games I've played by far. It's not for everyone though, you need to like some RPG elements, need to like feeling alone, and you need to feel like living another day is an accomplishment.
All of them are worth it, although Clear Sky is a decidedly different experience from the other two. It focuses purely on the factional conflicts in the area. The first and third are excellently creepy games, although they are by no means fast paced. Worth it for sure unless you don't have any patience.
