Getting ready to do a clean OS install on my SSD, along with Steam Account and a few games. Best way to do this?? Thanks.
i usually run a steam backup of the games i want to keep or just d/l content then install rest by disk but it all depends on your disk space
Copy paste whole steam directory works on my end when switching drives. No idea about full OS reinstall though.
This, then run Steam from the new install directory, login scroll to your games, select them and select to redownload or verify the cache for each game, it will do a quick check and install the game from the hard drive.
Thanks, All you guys for repling. I have one Retail game I bought on Disc. COD MW 3 The other three came with my Sapphire OC card and were D/Ls. from Steam and also showing Retail. Going to only load two on the SSD. COD and DEUX Human Revolution. BUT, Want to start with fresh reloads of those two without any saves. Having a problem with one as to glitches. Just don't want any problems with my Steam account. Thanks
Your saves and game configurations are not stored in your Steam folder - they're usually in your home folder under Documents. Even if you copy your Steam folder you should not have to worry about your old configs or saves following unless you copy your profile also.
Thanks guys and have had that app loaded for quite awhile. Never had to use it. Starting from sratch anyway so not worried about saved games as those will go Bye Bye with Platter reformatt. Music and Pics all backed up externally. Just want clean install of OS and Steam games. Couple D/Ls and a few Retail disc games Only two going on SSD for now, COD MW3 and DEUX. Just don't want a hassle with the new Steam setup. Not going to copy paste. Thanks again. Later
