If folks can't afford it, wait for a sale or wait for it to go on Humble Bundle. People can moan about the digital store messing up things like having physical copies, but I don't miss scratched or lost disks for a second. I guess key resellers could be a last resort*.
GOG sells many popular games without DRM on them. If DRM (such as Denuvo) really bugs you, remove it or avoid Denuvo protected software.
If you can't find a DRM-free copy of the game you like, or can't find it cheap enough, then buy a different game or find a more competitive store.

*The old adage rings true: If a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Other services do have it as well. In some occasions other services have to pull from developing countries at all, like Microsoft Store, to avoid rich people from USA and EU attempts to buy on lower prices intended for poor people.

oww sh!t, another one... guess I will be doing all my shopping using gift cards at some point, amazon to the recue!

I don't even care about saving a buck or two by constantly changing regions or whatever kids do these days, the problem is if the store needs region/currency match that means I'm locked into a store region with around 20 tittles available, so what then? ask the local bank for a US currency card so that they tax me like I'm some big tech CEO? f that

Could be they introduced it to make it more difficult for trying to access region locked titles on Steam?

Some games from the east don't want western exposure as the cultural difference brings negative press, so now they can completely restrict the game to eastern cultures so there's no backlash.

It doesn't seem fair that i have to pay £50 for a game but it's $50 for the Americans.

But it's the same thing i think. Or is it? Is $50 the same as £50 because it becomes very confusing as $50 = £38.19

You see we suffer from V.A.T in the U.K while U.S citizens are trusted to pay it themselves? idk their system of tax.

If i saved 12 quid by using a VPN then i'd be breaking the U.K customs and excise bill and trust me customs have way more powers than the police even.

On steam (same as GOG) Euro are including price with tax in some country and without in other.
It depend on fiscality of the country.
You don't have to go so far, lot of historical "rich" country have now more poor people than country that were in 3rd world only 5 years ago... happy capitalism result.

This is probably to cover themselves legally, unfortunately not every country (or publisher) is going to look at steam allowing potentially illegal or contract violating use of vpns as solely the responsibility of the account holder.

Do you realise that a country like Norway or UK have 5-10+ times higher avg salaries than Eurozone countries/areas like Greece, Cyprus, S Italy, Portugal, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia or ERM II countries like Croatia and Bulgaria?

Guys let's friggin hope that AMD doesn't see this as an excuse to bump prices up themselves for 4000 series.

You'd think something like this could help us the consumers but we all know Intel will fail to drop their flagship cpus costs even when faced with Zen 3.

We still need Intel to be competitive in the next few years or AMD will have a field day with us :) Maybe.

For anyone who wants a search on sales but avoid grey markets or straight shady BS like G2A, there's search engines like isthereanydeal.com. And if the results from those search sites don't agree with you, you can always pray to the scene. Or you know, play older games which I keep reminding all of us that we all have a backlog of. We're going to have to go back to those when the new GPU prices are revealed and we all vomit in disgust. Up yours Jensen.

I simply wait 5-10 years and buy games for 1-5 bucks during sales.

Seems to me like this has been in place for quite some time. I live in Czech Republic, but my currency is considered to be euro (it isn't) with the highest global price. Even US has it cheaper because they pay the same number, just in USD. That's why almost all of my purchases are from resellers. You can easily save like 10€ and even much more if you are willing to use grey market.

I used to buy almost everything from GMG, because they had me in GBP currency and did proper conversion. So everything was a bit cheaper on top of having their typical discounts. Sadly they changed that too. On steam I buy very little beyond a few DLC packs that were in discount, because it only charges me for the items I don't have.

I bought a bunch of games from kinguin, never had a problem with it.

I just look for a trusty seller and that's it.

The cheapest so far still has to be MKX incl. Season pass, payed 9.99e while on steam it was still 59.99e back then lol

Just reduce the price of games, whole industry needs to do this, they’re just too high and getting more ridiculous.

Especially stupid for single player games that last 10-30 hours and then your done. It’s no wonder people pirate games and try exploit currency options when buying them.

Yes in the States with digital goods we were trusted to pay sales tax especially here in Pennsylvania and it was counted with our Federal Income Taxes but way too many people ignored it for them to anything about it. However back in 2016 our State government passed a law that it requires digital goods to be taxed by 6% for most of the state except 1 area which they charge 7%. It is a State by State basis in terms of Sales Tax laws on digital goods from my understanding.

Games have always been cheap, problem is taxes (VAT) and Valve's 20-30% cut.

Not 5 to 10, but about 2 to 3 times. And listed countries still have 2 to 3 times higher incomes than developing countries.
