Ok, maybe it's just that I haven't played the original SC in years, but I do believe that the dark templar came out in Brood War. It was the crappy little gay protoss unit that was stealth, right? Brood War made SC suck so much, nothing but lame units. Anyways, it'll be great no matter what. They haven't released a bad game yet, and I highly doubt it'll happen on something as grand as Starcraft II, because if it did it would utterly ruin the company forever.
The poly count is pretty good so the animations should be killer. Lets hope they keep the witty responses.

"I've seen mods updating games better than that" And I'll have to wait at least 2 more years? Count me in for Torrentz!..." Tsc, I could go with just the announcement that Starcraft II was in the works and wait until they got something new ready... Just like when Starcraft was different from all the other rts when it came out...
Hope i'm wrong, but I saw or listened somewhere that the game is in pre-alpha. You don't go from alpha to gold in 6 months!
"Ahhhh..... fresh meat!!" or in Diablo 2 with The Smith: "I make weapons from your bones!!". Those still crack me up. But still, SC2's announcement is "power overwhelming!".
Anything is possible with blizzard. We have had games delayed for years and then disappear (SC:Ghost), Massive delays (Diablo 2), Games that popped out of nowhere after absence (Warcraft 3). A end of year game will really not surprise me.
What is even more interesting that nobody knew or any information was not leaked at all and Blizzard simply surprised everyone with their funny start up page on their website. Also i do hope they have another good story line and good gameplay made other wise i will be very disappointed by blizzard. Also if this is Pre-Alpha stage maybe Blizzard will listen to the crowd.... After seeing the Protoss Mothership vid with the black hole gun or something i was stunned and got chicken pocks all over my body. Not to mention the Epic battle movie. God god god, my life for Aiur indeed!!!
what ever happened to the race that was mentioned in broodwar at the end ? , will this feature in someway in sc2 ?
Wow could this game get hyped more? It's plastered everywhere on the net, I personally don't see the big deal. Looks meh. Never been into RTS games but I can't believe so many are so interested.
