    Your loss really

I can not tell you why or how I played start to finish with no crashes the whole game and thoroughly enjoyed the experience
I could think of one cause but you will not like the suggestion so I will not bother

Have you tried XentorX's config files?
This is a great game and it's a shame to put it aside.

I did and it works beautifully. Thing is, I really like the implementation of Raytracing in this title. When it works the worlds come to life and look so detailed in marvelous fashion. The colors, effects, lighting, depth.......everything. This is one of those titles that I want to replay with all visual effects from start to finish.

I've already cleared the game just a week before patch 6 was released. After patch 6, I thought I could finally enjoy this game fully on a second playthrough.

My expectations were shattered and after the crashes, glitches and disabling Raytracing on Jedha I am exhausted. When I returned to PC gaming I was spoiled. Many of the games I played were fixed due to me playing them well after their release dates. I purchased Survivor because it was a title I wanted to have in my collection.

As many have stated, day 1 purchases are a huge mistake. It didn't used to be this way, but games are far vaster than yesteryear.

You played from start to finish without crashes most likely due to having Raytracing disabled or a config file that disabled landscape RT. If your RT toggle was on that doesn't mean that Raytracing was enabled. That is also one of the many game glitches.

Frames are so low on occasion, I'm beginning to think my GPU is faulty. Running a 4080, epic settings with RT on at 2k UW and I'm getting frames in the upper 40's/lower 50's on the shattered moon level. Wtf, is this normal?

I'm 99% positive that your hardware is fine. This game has its technical woes for sure. Follow the instructions with the quote below. Our fellow Guru has helped many of us with his configuration. Xenthor made this game playable with excellent IQ when it was at its worst. Thanks again XenthorX.

Thanks for your tip. For the moment I decided to use Nvidia NIS and run the game at 85% native and I can tell you that it already works wonders as far as performance. Min and max are raised by almost 20 fps and iq remains solid thanks to minimal sharpening. Now to solve the horrid brightness flickering on my stupid Asus VA panel, but that's a whole different story where CRU is my friend.
    Man is this game unoptimized.

In the console commands i think r.shadow.distancescale 6 looks great but probably performance heavy

Just finished 2nd playthrough. Little over 100hrs in and I thought it was all fantastic. Yes, I had issues with crashing while RT was enabled, and some stutters here and there, but with help from nice folk on this forum, those issues were minimized, and I enjoyed the game immensely. Also helps that it was bundled with my new proc...:D. Great game!

The best tweak so far for smoothing out the hitching and stuttering is........disabling HT/SMT. Unbelievable the difference it made.

I used to be a proponent of SMT/HT, but now I'm not so sure. With efficiency cores, HT may no longer be needed and it will just take away from ST performance, which is more important in gaming. I only now recommend keeping HT/SMT on if your primary workloads involves heavy multithreaded applications on a regular basis.

That's interesting. What would your recommendation be for a 5600x? I use it for both gaming and work, but I'm specifically asking about gaming exclusively.

Gaming will be a bit more tricky with a 5600x since it has 6 cores and some games will use more than 6 threads. Honestly for you, I would recommend keeping it on because when I made the post above, I was thinking more for CPUs that have more than enough cores ie the high end Raptor/Alder Lake CPUs or the high end Zen 3/Zen 4 CPUs with at least 8 real cores.

I am using a 13900KF which has 24 real cores and 32 threads if HT is enabled, so after testing several games, I've found that HT has a tendency to lower performance.

Got it, thanks! I went from a 2700x (iirc) to the 5600x around Cyberpunk's launch, and it performed incredibly well (always above 60 fps with DF's optimization guide). 5600x was the hot thing at the time and highly recommended for gamers. I'll be upgrading in about a year, and I can't decide between AMD and Intel this time around.

I think I'm going to have to cave and finish the game in its current state. What an embarrassing mess for Respawn and EA. At least they've put up job listings for people with experience with Unreal Engine 5. Here's to hoping they have people who know how to optimize next time around!

With the latest ini configuration tweaks, DLSS Framegen Mod and Patch 6, I'm happy to report the game is running with full max visuals and without crashes. I reinstalled the title and I will leave it installed.

This journey has been up and down for me. I'm glad that the experience is finally making progress thanks to smart members of our community.

I'm especially interested in this as some people have claimed the ini tweaks do nothing in this particular game. I know PAK files work...

Here ya go Gurus. Just go back a few post on this page and you can download the pak file. There is another config file done by a Steam poster named Snight01. I found Xenthor's to be less harsh on the frames with great IQ. The Framegen Mod by PureDark works wonders as well.
