Ha no idea but glad i didnt, just watched some videos looks awful!
??? Beta is open for everyone!
I think theres a early access beta too, maybe for the people who pre-ordered?
Nope. You mean 1-2 weeks to play early for ppl who pre ordered maybe?
People can already play it tomorrow, so my guess was probably for the people who pre-ordered.
EDIT: http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Star Wars Battlefront
There are a BUNCH of streamers streaming it.
are there gonna be more maps than the showy one? i havent played the game yet but already sick on that map!
Yes, there are 3, 1 of them is a CO-OP map Tatooine.
Looked yesterday and only see one for pre orders, or have I missed something?
DICE have been giving out beta keys on twitter
So, um, are we sure this is being made by the same ppl who made BF4?
Because once you get past the iconic locations.... what else is there? I can't see any aspect of this shooter that doesn't look like a cheaply made, movie-tie-in cash grab title by a company trying to save as much cost as possible by cutting back any depth or intelligent design.
Honestly, the concept of taking the existing BF4 framework and replacing all the assets and location/weapon/objective names with Star Wars copyrighted material was actually what I was HOPING FOR.
What exactly, is this game?
Sorry but just no, I and most other people didn't want another reskin of battlefield.
The game has a unique feel too it and is a hell of a lot of fun.
Its refreshing to have a solid twitch like shooter but on big maps and they have nailed the sw theme perfectly.
I've not seen any one in the alphas or betas who's played it and not had fun.
Of course it's fun, it's STARWARS ffs!
But the question was - for how long? Depth? I fail to see it.
Replayability? Yes, until....
1. You saw all maps
2. You played all roles
3. You played both Imperials and Rebels
4. You became a hero once or flew the Mil.Falcon
And then .... what? Wait for DLC and pay even more money?
Well not everybody wanted a shallow arcade like shooter that it somewhat looks like. I haven't played yet though, my opinion might change once people get to play.
Regarding the alphas and betas, and the people having fun, they certainly pick who gets access. It would be pretty stupid to give alpha and beta access to people firstly not supporting them, and secondly not the streamers who are pushing your game... free publicity. I'd be surprised if they changed the usual scheme to give access to people that didn't like stuff about their previous games.
Pre-loading beta now.
I foresee a whole army of players just doing rocketjumps, like back then in HL1 Deathmatch
I think the gameplay is solid enough to keep people playing plus there will be a tone of character customization in the final game which will keep people playing just look at csgo's gun skin madness.
Not sure why people think its "shallow" cs and quake 3 are very shallow games yet they still have a huge audience because the gameplays solid.
Also tomorrow EVERYONE on pc xbone and ps4 can play the beta for free, no pre orders no codes no nothing just give it ago if you don't like it cool but its free to try it out so might as well.
I suspect that's because they're easy to get into, difficult to master and there's an UBERload of custom maps & models & skins because of the modding scene.
I think it's shallow because of what I've seen so far there's no real depth to gameplay besides point and click.
I haven't been able to play it, but as a BF veteran I'm severly disappointed on the lack of ways to differentiate how you can set up your game. No specialised classes, NOTHING so far that makes me think I need my teammate to help me, like healing or ammunition. It is dumbed down in terms of everybody can play call of duty like and just rush and kill what there is, no thinking needed.
Also, CS and Quake are shallow, as is UT for example. And more shallow games aren't really what I was hoping for. I know that this negativity comes mostly from my own being biased, then again... why does everything tend to become more stupid, more simple to work with the masses of people that are just that, simple, casual? Screw your sales numbers, give us games that are actually easy to play, difficult to master, not easy to play and... nothing more.
All I have to say is negative things, I'm aware of that, maybe it would have changed if I'd have gotten one of those early access keys. Maybe my opinion changes once I play the game, but I doubt that three days of a beta will show me a previously unknown dimension of the meta game.
Pretty much sums up what I think as well.
Plus they no other races etc? Perhaps that will come..
EA's most favourite part of the business deal: DLC.
