First, SW Battlefront is visually stunning and has great sound, but the lack of fun in the game play ruins all that. There was just something missing that I and a lot of other people just can't pinpoint. I tried to give it a chance and played for a couple of months and then I was done. No urge to go back.

Then the model was used for Battlefield 1. Mind you, I used to be a huge Battlefield series fan. I played BF3 and BF4 for years almost exclusively; no other games with the exception of Rocksmith/2014.

I thought EA taking over the Battlefield servers for Battlefield 1 would be a good thing from a fairness standpoint, but when they incorporated the lack of fun that went into SW Battlefront and the similar menu system, they ruined the series. I can't imagine buying Battlefront 2 as both series seem to have headed into parallel mediocre development paths.

On the positive side, it got me playing other titles. Titanfall / Titanfall 2 and Destiny 2 seem to have that fun factor that drained out of the SWBF and BF series.

The microtransaction thing is getting a bit out of hand, really. If you're paying £50/€50/$50 for a game (why do we always get ripped off here ? D: ) There shouldn't be any additional costs incurred beyond maybe fully fledged DLCs (I dislike "Season Passes", too for this reason). Greed, pure greed.

If there's one thing you should never do as a publisher, its charge microtransactions in a game that isn't free to play.

A paid game + paid DLC is fine. A free to play game with microtransactions is fine but never try have your cake and it or customers will rebel.

Also the microtransactions should be purely aesthetic and NOT affect gameplay to the point where it becomes pay to win.

A lot of people rip into Dota for having hat casinos that encourage kids to gamble. True that's kinda shitty. But the one thing Valve got right is that every single item or chest they sell in the Dota shop has no effect on gameplay whatsoever. Their skins are cosmetic only.

    Wtf is up with gamers?!

Gamers complained about EA being greedy offering shortcut kits which gave full access to weapons and gear without the need to play through levels and gameplay prerequisites in the battlefield series that led gamers to think that it's a cash grab which led to the uniform feeling that EA don't care, that they milk a franchise, kill off games with microtransactions - so in Battlefront 2, they rescind that policy in light of complaints made over the years and the playerbase go apesh*t and complain about that too?

Seriously? What the hell at the Battlefield/Battlefront playerbase...?? Get a grip!

Edit:My message has been unclear it seems (see my second post) and I don't appreciate the language used in replying to this, I'm referring to how for a long time the playerbase has criticised EA for it's policy on having it's pay2win model (since BF3 premeium/shortcut kits as an example), which while this hasn't changed, EA did remove a layer of the pay2win at the top tier and now the playerbase are also complaining about not being able to pay2win.

My opinion is either let the game play out how it used to such as back in BF2/2142, gain levels and perform objectives to unlock things, or if they are going to allow shortcut kits, do it fully, no half arsed attempt.

Finally, I agree EA has caused a fiasco in this and I'm not defending them at all, I'm criticising how overtime we have two camps of players these days - those that are willing to pay to avoid grind (and these are the ones that should be chastised for allowing this model to flourish) and those who quite rightly believe the game should be released as a whole with an intended gameplay designed into it - akin to BF2/2142 which has been very successful.

The only way EA will know of our criticism is if we show them with our wallets, don't feed the machine if you don't agree with the practices, I'm not (they're charging an arm and a leg for their games now anyway).

I don't mind paying for a game and good DLC, but whoever thought that pay for a game then pay to win or grind away was a good idea is deluded.
I am pleased to see the uprising against EA and swbf2 I really hope other publishers are watching this disastrous game launch .

    Herein lies the problem.

We got idiots like this defending EA.

if you don't see the problem with what EA is doing with BF2, you are to be blunt, stupid.

At this rate, gamers have absolutely no right to complain. EA is predictable with these products and anyone dumb enough to buy into their products (don't get me started on preorder...) and not know what they just bought themselves into deserves their "poor experience". EA pulls this crap because people are encouraging their behavior. If you're ok with what EA does and enjoy their products, great - you're not an idiot, because you either knew what you were getting into and were ok with it, or, you had no expectations and were satisfied anyway. EA obviously isn't intentionally making their products unlikable.

EA is not willing to lose their status as one of the biggest game publishers, so the only way to get them to make good products is to speak with your wallet and stop buying into franchises just because you like them. No Star Wars fan worth talking to is going to ridicule you just because you didn't buy a game. The point of liking a franchise is because you enjoy the content. You, as a fan, have no obligation to keep funding poorly made things.

Man, the campaign is just pure fast food, a 4 hour walk in the park, no substance nor gameplay mechanics whatsoever. And the end is, let´s say it´s not there.

    Ps.- sorry wrong thread

people with brains seeing what EA is doing unfortunately majority people are blind too this... if i paying 59$ or what for game. I anit gona get milked for more money in game too. at this point they should all just stop charging for games and make them all pay to play and pay again to continue playing.

Short of SWTOR that i bought on day one for 49$ and then sub right up to point it went f2p and this whole micro transaction cash shop bs kill the game quality, since f2p nothing has really been fix there 5 yea rold bugs not fix but cash shop bug/issue instantly fix. I have not bought a game EA in 10+ years because they more about milking things then making good games.

And once again we have a person who reads something else entirely with what they've quoted and insulted someone in the process, thanks Agent, you're an wonderful man with wonderful manners so let me explain it this way and await your apology for insulting me so.

The problem is EA don't listen to their consumer base, and when they do it becomes a major f*ck up because they do it in a half-arsed way.

For years, there has been segregation in the player base in terms of those that have access to DLC and those that don't then we have the next issue, those that grind their way through the game to receive unlocks and gear generated through intended gameplay and then, the paid shortcut unlocks - I've always chastised EA for that kind of monetisation and those that support this idea and I'm sure others will agree with me in that this method is the cash grab I mentioned previously.

So whats the problem? First we have EA who want player retention because it means they'll be able to offer more content for a person to buy within the game such as expansions, cosmetics and other items so they create the grind, yet there are those that feel they don't have the time to play for the necessary grind and as such want access now and so EA realising this, they sell the access but it makes you wonder, why bother buying the game if you aren't going to play it?

Now with this release of Battlefront, EA have done something of a compromise (which has just compromised themselves), the deluxe pack offering most unlocks, but not all which not only creates a gulf between the players that want all content now but strengthens the sentiments that those have about pay2win furthermore.

Imo, if you're going to offer unlocks in the game, do it all or don't do it at all and let the players play the game as intended (though at this point, I don't think there is an intended way to play the game, more like intended way to pay for the game).

    Why would I apologize?

You're pointing the finger at gamers in general.
Like it's our fault we paid 80$ for a game to have all the content locked behind a paywall.

The idea that you have to grind for hours and hours for a single character unlock is borderline retarded.

The shortcut idea is borderline roberry too.
They know players don't want to grind for hours for unlocks.

Offering lootboxes for 100$ that doesn't even let you unlock a single character is robbery.

Either way you spin it, whatever EA does is all about making money and screwing the customer through a quick cash grab.

At $80, everything should be unlocked.
    Not this P2W BS.

They've reduced the number of points needed by 75% , But according to gameinformer website they've also reduced the amount of points they give you also by 75% at least for the campaign anyway.

"completing the campaign earned players a unique loot crate that contained 20,000 credits. That reward is now 5,000 credits. A big change. What else is different? I need to find out."

The new paradigm is to build games as huge grind fests and offer perks that get you out of some if not all of the grind in exchange hard cash. I have a crazy idea, just make the game fun to play for hours on end. The old BF2 as in Battlefield 2 from 2005 was a nice example of a fun game with nice game play (course EA hand't bought Dice yet). I personally look for games that don't pull shenanigans and I really hope more do it as well so game developers stop this stupid nonsense.
