hope they got the bugs squashed fleet week javelin event and etc needs it, last year i got to see avil day and the feet at some outpost, see how it rolls this year.


s42 i hope is sooner rather than later xmas if they internal a ton.


probably next year however, with the pace picking back up on the pu i got to hope the heavy lifting stuff is done for 42, nm cr said they could have bounced the thing out ages ago if the funding imploded.


and they always could have scripted and faked stuff, now they so close to final in the pu on fm and other basics. not much sense at all to not share those iterations.

 

3.14 PTU is out - Orison is super super pretty. Performance isn't half bad either compared to the other cities.. getting the same 30-40fps although there is some stuttering. Performance in space seems to be much better but I've upgraded my CPU to a 5900x since the last time. Getting close to ~100fps there now. The cloud tech for first version is beautiful. Hopefully they address the known "pointillism" issue with it and add the detail layers soon + other planets. Kind of blows me away how good this game looks sometimes and presumably will only get better with Gen12 renderer + Vulkan.

I'm also really liking the ship/missile improvements. I got into a PvP battle in crusaders atmo in my connie was able to arm and fire all my missiles simultaneously, was such a waste but so sick at the same time lol

I also see there's been a massive influx of ED players. I guess Horizon isn't as promised. Lots of new players coming in being surprised how much there is to do in SC now compared to just a few years ago.

 

Every time i run this alpha it's a crap show until i can play something

32GB of RAM minimum? Crazy. If this keeps on going the way it is only like 10 people in the world will be able to actually run the game at a respectable framerate.

 

Yeah i cant imagine running it with a 16gb ram. Like you said 32gb minimum if you want to run the game.

 

And the Guinness World Record for the longest Alpha version in the history software development goes to.... SCAM CITIZEN, sorry, it's star, right?

 

Is 32GB that far fetched now in days? I've had 32 for 6 years now and I'm going for 64 when DDR5 comes out. Star Citizen probably won't be in a polished state for at least another 3-4 years so idk, seems fine.

 

The cost of entry is too high, financially and for the rest of my systems gaming performance.
I like my games to be very smooth so whatever system I have gets fast ram.
Unfortunately, 32GB+ of ram cannot run as fast as 16GB by a large margin and even so costs a lot more.
You can get some performance back by paying a hell of a lot more for the ram and a better motherboard.
But I would rather spend a lot less AND keep performance up for my games.
There's nothing attracting me to Star Citizen yet and a lot putting me off.
I'm not seeing its release on the horizon, maybe it will improve, but its on the wrong path in many ways.

If 32GB becomes a more general requirement for a quality gaming experience I will reconsider, but I have no reason to go there and many reasons to not, as things are.

 

For a "game"? Yes. Definitely.

 

keep in mind that SC has alot of debug stuff enabled and memory use isn't optimized yet.

 

Whats wrong with 2x16gb dual channel dual rank kit? It reaches almost the same speed as single rank and have double the capacity. I dont undestand people buying a 500$ cpu, 1000$ gpu and only 16gb ram for 80$.

Having a chrome open with 50tabs, few monitoring apps in the background SC isnt the only game you wont be able to run this days.
